My tank has been up for 3 weeks. It has already cycled. I'm getting an outbreak of green weedy looking things in my sand.
Tank is 90 g.
I have added 10 snails and a couple of hermits.
readings: ph 8.2, Amonia = 0, nitrates = 0
calcium = 420
I have been adding kalk with replacwement water.
should I add more hermits? blue leg or scarlet?
Thanks!

Some tangs will eat this. Also a foxface is one of the best I have seen at eating calurpea and other algeas.

they are more than likely diatoms, which are normal for a tank/sandbed your age. This is a normal stage you will go through. crabs and snails will help keep it clean, but it will all pass in time.

Im pretty sure it's not caluerpa. I do however have some that came on my fiji. two kinds, grape and feather.
This is more like little sprigs of grass. I can pull it out , it's almost like a litle tumble weed.
