Should I switch to live sand?

I currently have ***** brand sand because at the time it was cheaper to go this route and I really didn't expect to get into Salter Water. Now that I am into salt water tanks currently fish only still trying to upgrade to get into FOWLR and then possibly a reef tank in the end. I was wondering will it matter if i use live sand or a smaller grain of sand at this point vs the ***** brand?

the tank itself is established been running for months already not sure if switching it out would benefit my parameters at this point or if it's just asthetics.

No! Lol switching it will cause bad bad things. Your sand now is live, so your all good there. I believe u posted a few things. I dont believe corals or live rock are illegal in Hawaii. Just collecting your own is

Is it legal to find a couple handfuls of aragonite sand from near a reef to dump into your tank once in a while?

Hmm, it depends where. Diff states have diff wildlife laws. But a little sand I would think u would b ok

Hmm would the same idea relate to multiple tanks? A little from this tank for that tank vise versa.

Yeah, that definitely helps. There used to be big sand bed swaps across the country because they really do work. But most of the sand bed infauna doesn't really reproduce in captivity so adding "wild live sand" to the tank once in a while is a huge boost to diversity.

Hmm, it would have to be warmer climate sand iam guessing? Like a florida, cali, ect. I go to maine every yr but iam thinking the critters would be diff in that than a warmer climate. Or iam I wrong?

My reply was to the OP, I believe Hawaii was the location. Sand from cold or temperate waters are not going to be as useful as sand from the tropics.
