Call your local water treatment facility, or water association, and ask them which chemicals are used to treat the water in your area. If they say Chlorine, you can let the water sit in a bucket for 24 hours and the Chlorine will disappear all by itself. If they say Chloramine, then you have a problem. Chloramine is a Chlorine and Ammonia compound. You will have to wait until you get your RO/DI system,
and you will also need a Chloramine filter to go in it. Regular carbon filters will remove
some Chloramine, but not all of it, and it won't be long before it removes
none of the Chloramine. It has to be labeled for Chloramine to be effective.
