Can you keep a snowflake in a reef?

i have a snowflake in my 55g, they wont outrite kill your fish, they would however eat some smaller gobies you have or small slow wrasses, but they have very bad eyesight and must be fed by hand, but they are quite interesting, i have no probs with one in my reef but the most common problem of...

Are you really growing ACRO'S under T-5's

T5 are by no means low light, they put out an emense amount of PAR and Lumes per bulb. I have see a 120g tank lit by an 8 bulb t5 fixture, with only a skimmer and calcium reactor and all the SPS had great color and outstanding growth. And the tank was all SPS dominated. T5 are second best to...

best way to raise alk & calc?

yes you want to use a 2 part addative, not just kent liquid calcium, kent sells a 2 part buffer called "Kent Tech A" and also "Tech B". Like said above dripping kalkwasser will help, but it will only help keep your water paraments stable once you get them up. Kalkwasser can be bought at the LFS...

    ReefForBrain's Supercheap DIY NANO Diary

when electrons are put into the tube the mercury changes from a liquid to a gas, collision from ions excites the mercury which deflects the electrons at a higher energy level, when forces pull the electron back it releases the extra energy as UV light, this UV light hits the Phosphor coating...

    ReefForBrain's Supercheap DIY NANO Diary

i use one of these lights on my fuge and i can grow corals and macros no prob, i also have these over a FW planted tank. To my knowledge in the tube the light bulb produces UV light, and when it hits the white film on the glass in the bulb it is transformed into visible light.
