I have lots of things popping up all my live rock and dead coral. They are brown in color, tube shaped, about a quarter inch long, 1/16 in diameter and are hard to the touch. There seems to be two tiny hair like things sticking out of them and what looks like filiments like a spider would spin...

The tanks been up for a year. There are feather dusters in the tank. It's the last thing I put in.

The coral is not live. In fact at one time it was cleaned in bleach. What is growing on it is something other then the coral. They are about one eight inch long. Thanks for the reply. Have a happy.

I recently put a Brain coral in my tank that I've had laying around for 20 years. It had been in and old tank. After a month or so I see some things that are redish in color and tube like that resemble Feather dusters and are about an 1/8 inch long. There are about 20 or 30 on a 6 inch brain...

I put a zip lock bag of ice in the tank. I didn,t notice a change of temp. but didn't loose any fish. My thermometer only goes to 84 where it stayed for those few days.

The tank is not getting any sun light. The algae forms mostly under a single 175 watt MH fixture that is about 12 inchs from top of tank. I made the light up my self. I used white aluminum as a reflector.

So far I managed to keep one alive in a 1 gal tank with an air stone and changing the water. I'm feeding it newly hatched brine shrimp. Only time will tell.

I have one with a powder blue tang and a flame angle and he is doing fine. He stays at one end of a 75 gal about mid way up most of the time. Eats everything. When lights dim he goes to whole under the rocks for the night. He doesn't do much. Hope I helped.

I have two cleaner shrimp and one dropped a load of babbies. I netted a couple to see if they could be raised. I have no clue how to do it. I'll try a little yeast first. If anyone has a better idea it would be welcomed. The rest in the tank I guess became live food.

I had the same problem and had to move him. The one I have is in a 2 inch shell. He is redish and has white spots. I liked him because he churned up the media bed, and cleaned it I think.
