It might be clear enough to keet chaeto alive, but that amount of macro wont really make too much of a dent in your nutrients.

I think that most of them will have stripes, but that a small # of the might come out with no stripes. I'll have to wait and see.

Well if newly mixed SW tests at 600, there is definatly the problem there. What salt mix are you using and are you mixing it with tap water or OR? Many cities tap water contains a lot of calcium.

Unfortunatly, there are many more bad LFS than good ones. But there are organizations that inspect places tht sell dogs and cats, but not one for fish.

There is actually nothing wrong with Quickrete sand for your tank. It is a silica based sand, but that silica is inert and does not cause algae like many believe. Just like your glass is made up of mostly inert silica. Now silica sand wont buffer your tank, isnt as fine, and isnt white...

Thanks, After years of reefing, these guys are my favorite fish. Too bad I don't have the resources to see what the results are when these guys breed. But who knows, maybe in the future I will be able to try it. Then we can test the genetics vs environment theory.

They've done well since day 1. They started pecking at things the very second they wet into my QT so I tried feeding them and they ate right away. Always a good sign. I've had them a few months now and they are the most active things in my tank.

Well here he is. This is half of the pair, but they really like to move around. So kinda difficult to get a good shot of them. They look kinda like an oversized bright orange with black trim clown goby.

I'll try to get some pics of them tonight. I'm not very good at taking fish shots though so cant make any promises on quality.

That would be pretty cool. I think it might be worth a little bit extra, but misbarred is more common than no stripes on a perc.

There are true perc clowns without stripes. ORA has been trying to selectively breed them for some time now. Its a very difficult mutation to et since having stripes the the dominant gene. So perc without stripes are super rare and usually sell for $100-$200 each easily. I have a pair...

Well you can actually train it be feeding at the same time everyday to open up and eat during the day.
