Hey all- I have had a DSB for about three months now and i cannot keep the surface of it clean. I have over 30 hermits and 5 turbo snails in a 29 gallon tank and they have not helped at all. Do i need a cucumber, a power head? what? i know it can be done.

Some anemones (bubble tip comes to mind) will split on their own, but i think you would have as much luck fragging an anemone as you would fragging a clown fish. ;)

I think you'll want to take that sand sifting star out of there fast. They sift the sand looking for live critters to eat. You paid a lot of money for live sand and it would be a shame to let a $20 star fish destroy it. I would recommend hermit crabs, turbo snails, maybe a cucumber. If you...

I figured it out. It's called an Osci-Wave and you can pick um up at premium aquatic.
