I have an excellent Coralight retro kit that I have made a matte black finish hardwood canopy for. I had to get a retro kit because there isn't an hqi with actinics fixture that fits on a 24"x12" tank that I know of. It has a hqi 150w MH with 64w actinics x2. It also has two bright lunar...
I bought an Aquapod 24 with stock 64w lighting. I read somewhere that you can redrill the mounting holes and install 80w of lighting. The problem is that I can't find the site that explained how to do it. Thanks for you help.
Aren't you trying to sell the rock you have?
And it takes a heck of a lot less time to get substrate level bacterial proliferation than it does to get coralline coverage. I think he was looking for a little more than rocks with coralline spores on them.
lol
I've seen a 75 tank and stand for $100 (no canopy or overflow)
I've seen a 75 ENTIRE reef set up for $350
Granted these are good prices but they pop up fairly frequently.
Thank you.
Btw, I thought I made it pretty evident that I realized that some things you cannot be certain about in this hobby. But there are plenty of things that you can have a large possibility of (eg. nearly any fish of any species will be eaten if it is the same size as an angler/ frog...
That's the thing. All I can get is "might"s. But I guess that's all the truth out there to get- It is a possibility.
I guess the next step to take would be to be on the watch for any early warning signs that the coral is distressed. I can think of two signs at the moment:
Loss of Zooanthellae...
I have heard the opinion that clowns will close coral polyps to death from several others as well. I have also heard that many corals adapt to the constant stimulation. I just don't know why the author Joyce D Wilkerson would suggest that approach instead of the natural one if it normally...
I have read that corals have a much higher survival rate than anemones and they obviously don't roam- damaging other tank inhabitants. My clowns are currently hosting a 7-8" goniopora flowerpot coral. I have heard mixed reviews about this particular coral and it's tolerance for clowns and...
Please correct me if I'm wrong. I just can't see why people put so much into "established" water. The bacterial concentration in water is 1/1000th of what it is in substrate pound/ pound. Please tell me what the big deal is.
"A 58 gallon tank should never have more than 8-10% water changes or you risk a chance of recycling the tank."
I routinely change up to 10 gallons of water in three of my 30gallons... never have had any problems. Often changing a large quantity of water is necessary to lower nitrate levels...
