I have a huge brittle star and it doesn't seem to bother anything. He will eat anything dead but I have not loss any live fish to him.

peppermint shrimp will eat aptasia, but will generally leave other stuff alone. I dont know what the deal is with your feather dusters. I have not had any problems with peppermint shrimp.
