kickster, i added another powerhead in that area. the flow around them in pretty intense. i would say med to high. i will try and brush them off.

the purple tubes that the polyps are coming out of are turning white in that are that open? is that area dead? should i remove those peices from the rock and let the colony spread over there?

temp is around 80, double checked it. everything looks the same today.

oh yea and i dont normally dose iodine. i do water changes every 2 weeks. should i be dosing iodine?

i have 265 watts of pc lighting over a 55 gallon tank, which is about 4 watts per gallon. i dont think these are actually green star polyps. they look sort of pinkish with a green tint. the rest of the colony is spreading and doing great. it is just that one area that looks like that.

carrie, ph- 8.2 alk-10.5 i think the white stuff is just sand. i do have some white coraline though. i just thought it was from the rock hitting oxygen a month ago.

coral usually come attached to a rock. just add it to the tank. doesnt matter whether fish or coral go first

last week

tonight i noticed that a few of my star polyps broke off the rest of the colony and ended up on the rock below it. Are they dead or are they trying to spread to another rock?

if the rock was exposed to the air than the coraline will turn white.

no change as of yet???

maybe i will try to move them and see what happens. :thinking:
