    Fire Damsel

That picture looks like it's from a Tool video and will probably give me nightmares for a week! Where in South Jersey, I went to Stockton. I remember a great LFS down that area too. I would agree that damsels are hard to catch and aggressive. Show your lady friend some pics of three or six...

    How can I get pods?

Thanks for the ideas. What is chaeto? Do LFS sometimes sell bottles of them, I know I've seen them online here? Can you buy eggs and hatch them like brine? If not that would be a great idea.

    How can I get pods?

I have seen one tiny shrimp-like thing in my powerhead screen. I was trying to remove some debris from it and this little gray thing started twitching. My question is: How can I get them to populate the LR or how can I get more of them? Do LFS sell them? I've seen them on this site, but...

    Newie Help

I would just buy gallons of distilled water from Walmart for 60cents. Is the 2400LPH a powerhead? If you want to change up the flow you can add one of those circulating wave attachments, they lessen the flow. I would have a filter before a skimmer, but on such a small tank LR and a good...

    copperband butterflies

If you don't already have one then don't get one. My professional reef friend had one that eventually died. Find a substitute, I have a blacklip or kleins butterfly and he eats aiptasia and everything else, he's been doing great and is more colorful than a copperbanded.

what happened to the other three? Died obviously, but from what? Same species homocide or picked off by more aggressive fish? Should I only get a few then? maybe two blue and two green? What size tank did you have them in?

    Moon light? Light flickers.

So will a dim light in the same room serve the same purpose? Does anyone know why my main light might be flickering? it is new. a few months old and causing problems.

    damsel hovering?

Once your tank has cycled all levels should be 0. Take a water sample to LFS. If your fish are new and seem to be doing fine, then your tank is cycled. I read about people adding damsels to start the cycle and they would seem stressed and twitch and bug out from levels changing. If this isn't...

    schooling and sleeping questions

good to know, I think I will get four blue or two blue and two green. Depends on what they have, luckily I can call and see what came in with the order cause LFS is kinda far away, about 20min. But I've heard of worse. Thanks for answering questions. I guess they will eat pretty much anything...

    Moon light? Light flickers.

I have seen lighting set-ups that have a dim blue light to serve as a moonlight or something. Will a dim light in the same room serve same function? I leave a light on so when I cut the tank light they have some light to find a spot to hide/sleep. Also, my light flickers dim or off sometimes...

    schooling and sleeping questions

I put a post in this fish message board but got no hits. Does anyone have blue chromis, or a school of them? I want to get a school of four or five to add some blue to my color scheme. How many are needed to have them school or atleast get along? Will they school with green or blue green...

    Questions about Blue chromis school?

For my last fishes I want to add some blue. I want to get blue chromis, a school of four or five. (I wanted a hippo tang, but everyone in the world says 55g is too small, even though it wouldn't outgrow the tank for a while) Does anyone have a school of these, how many is a good number? Will...

    Dieing fish...-_-

Most LFS near me give them two weeks, if they kick the bucket after that it's not their fault. Call, ask, bring him back with a water sample, they might refund you. I get my fish from a legit guy, he quarantines all fish for two weeks before he will sell them. Kinda frustrating as a customer...

    crabs molting questions?

I just purchased them and then noticed it, they are healthy though and tank mates are all nice guys, friendly and not enough time to do any real damage. Emerald crab is missing two legs on one side, eating and doing well though. Sally light foot is missing one leg and one claw on one side, but...

    hypo question

You can get a cheap one 10$ from LFS and this should work fine. The pros say they wear out or are not accurate, but if your temp is about 78-80 then it is fairly accurate.

    white film at surface????

I had same concern about a week ago, take a plastic cup and push it down slowly until you are skimming water off the top slowly, like using your hydrometer same feel. Do this for a few cups and you will pull some of the "fats" off of the surface. I do it every few days. Someone on here told...

Do we all always feel this way?

There is a huge difference between concern and worry. I like to look at my tank for five minutes now and again, find the snails, crabs, shrimp, see whose doing what. Have confidence in your set up, ask questions here, and then enjoy it! I have only been in the game for three months and I have...
