Is there a difference between fresh and saltwater test kits? I have an aquarium pharmaceutical's freshwater master test kit, would the ammonia, nitrite and carbonate hardness tests be (at least close to) accurate if used to test saltwater?

I just built one. Flowrate depends on the dimensions and bulkhead diameter. Search these boards and the internet, you'll find plenty of specs.

I'm curing 50# of Old Castle in 11G of H2O(heated and aerated) with flake. It's starting to stink. Why? Is this normal or bad? Is it possible the bacteria died and could smell farily strong? Thanks for the help.

I've had 50# of old castle in a 50G rubbermade w/ 11G of water @ 76* w/ a powerhead since Saturday. I've "fed" it a couple pinches of flake a couple times and stir it a few times a day. Thanks

I'm going to switch to sand and add a 'fuge. Sand is curing and overflow has been tested. What I'm looking for is a kit to jumpstart the biodiversity and maturity of my system. Macros, really live sand, maybe some rubble and critters. I saw one on ---- but it's gone now. I didn't buy it...

I know they eat algea, but what kind? Mine deffinately don't look too good. They've gotten smaller and their color is different. I did see them rubbing each other and lay eggs on the glass, so could the color be a mating thing? I'm afraid I don't have enough of or the right kind of algae.

Right now I only have 55w 10k pc and 20 w no actinic and my gsp, shrooms, yellow polyps and a couple different zoos are growing very well. I have them in the upper level of my tank and keep the tank well fed. I am currently planning to build a canopy and upgrade my lighting.

I guess it could be a sponge. I don't know too much about them. I bought this rock out of the LFS' coral tank. Here's another angle. It's a little blurry(it was a tough angle).

This is on a rock I recently bought. It's about the size of a quarter. Bright, dark pink almost red. I need to know what it is and what it needs. I think it's grown since I got it, but it's hard to tell for sure.
