I have a loofah-type material in my overflow and it does a great job with sound/air reduction. I also have a set of valves on the piping that allows me to adjust the water flow so that the water isn't going down faster than it it's coming back up into the tank, leaving my overflow empty enough...

Of course, for a fun fish I never could find one to top a Midas Blenny. They find a hole in the rock to call home, then swim out and change colors and act silly. They go from a dull yellow/peach, to a vibrant canary yellow in a millisecond. It's amazing to watch.... And they spend the whole day...

I have a few Kupang Damsels. VERY colorful yet not as aggressive, and they stay pretty small too....
