Please advise on planned additions to tank

I got my order! Yeah! I am drip acclimating everything now. I seeded my tank with pods for the Mandarian by buying a bunch of macro algae from my LFS refuge and placing it in a in-tank fuge.

    crazy noises at night?

Did you catch that show last year on NBC called “Surface”? It could be one of those things. You should kill it before it gets too big. I mean, these things get really big! :scared:

My coralife super skimmer 220 just stopped making bubbles

I would love to have my pump towards the bottom of the tank. I mean, come on, the heavier/larger particals end up there.

My coralife super skimmer 220 just stopped making bubbles

Titan, Did you make your intake tube longer? Also I should say I have a CL Skimmer 125. There could be something blocking the air-in-take tubing? You can detatch the air in take and blow thru it.

Please advise on planned additions to tank

I upgraded those lights (DIY) and will post a new thread discussing it. JDragon, I will look into the Anemone and mandarin conflict a little more. Anemones should eat anything. I wonder if Mandarins are just stupid and swim up to them!?!

My coralife super skimmer 220 just stopped making bubbles

The corallife skimmers are very sensitive. If the intake tube is too long it can cause the chamber to stop making bubbles even though it made bubbles before. Coral Life instructions state you want it about 3” from the water line. You can test this by turning on your skimmer and then bring the...

Please advise on planned additions to tank

Thanks Nick76. Glad to hear it. On the lights. I have been researching lighting lately and want to upgrade but the price is just way out of my reach right now. So, I disassembled my stock Jebo light cover (which is slowly rusting away) and discovered that the ballast is labeled for 55 w bulbs...

    Here comes a N-e-w-b-y

Expect to be frustrated for a few months or longer as one thing after another will happen. Too high of nitrates, fish will die (knock on wood), parasites will pop up, fish attacking fish (oh the humanity!) SFW has a steep learning curve. Then one day you will be staring at your tank, enjoying...

    Here comes a N-e-w-b-y

Yeah, buy an Ro unit. My WalMart sells a gallon of RO at $0.33. You will spend $79.20 to fill up you tank! A 240 gal tank requires 48 gals for a 20% water change. So you will be paying $15.84 for a monthly water change PLUS your weekly top offs (replacing water as it evaporates). In one year...

    Skimmer and Nitrate

I was in a similar situation as you. I had a wet/dry filter and my nitrates were between 60 and 80. I was doing 25% water changes every other week and nothing dropped my nitrate levels. I have a pretty reliable LFS and he suggested that I remove the bio balls from my wet dry if I did nothing...
