Just wanted to say my tank has never looked so good before! came home today and went to my tank and noticed alote of purple algae growning, tank is healthy, water is so clear, fish are happy, Im happy lol, thank you all that helped me!

to save myself mony I put 1/2" live sand 3" play sand than 1/2" live sand again on top. I made a play sand sandwich :D

what are you going to use for a shut off valve? a wine cork?

I would keep corals that need moderate lighting.

I added a anemone in my tank 2 days ago and now noticed my clark clown chasing everybody. he is not near the anemone, he is on the other side of the tank and wont go near the anemone. What up with that?

did you install valves on the input and output hoses?

If I where you and didnt want to much live rock in your tank, than just skip the bio balls, put a few liverock in your sump and get yourself a good skimmer :D

stick to whats working for you! Tropic marin is working for me and I wont switch to a diffrent brand cause its a few dollars cheaper!

Algae does best in water supplied with a good source of nutrients. To try and control the growth of algae make sure you put as little as possible nutrients useful to the algae. Algae also does better where there is no flow or current of water. To keep the algae away you could also have more...

OK, this is the result. bad and good. My tank has no trace of copper in it. the pipe was in there for a day, so i put a copper fitting in a glass of water for a day, than I tested the cup of water. The test in the water flew off the charts! very very high, well passed 2,5 mg/1. my tank is 100...

I never ran into a copper problem but I quess anything that can go wrong will go wrong. I;ll keep all tests in hand by tommorow morning :D

I just noticed a copper fitting was thrown in my sump by my 4 year old! It was in there all day. its a 1/2" copper fitting you use for water pipes. its a (its a 90 degree fitting) I noticed my macro algae not as green tonight, fish & corals look ok, 1 snail is dead, is this linked pleas tell me...
