I have a new fish. Now what?

How can you do this effectively in an unlighted rubbermaid? It's not unlighted. It is lit by (4) 40 watt NO flourescents. The lights are going across the two tanks which are side by side. I get to visualize the fish very easily. 160 watts of light and the fish will come up and look at me in...

I have a new fish. Now what?

I got a new Coral Beauty on 10/4/03. The fish has been in an established rubbermaid tank that I have for some extra live rock and live sand. The fish is doing great and is eating pellet food along with the usual angel picking. I also keep a cycled QT up to do hypo in. All the fish in the main...

Advice on cleaning Fluval 404 Help

I took the sponges out of mine. I use filter floss in the media containers instead. It is much easier to just take the floss and toss it out and replace it than it is the clean the sponges. I then use some type of bio media in the top container. I happen to use SeaChem Matrix in mine. You...

    sun corals

I forgot a few things. Mine is in a fairly low current area out in the open. The lights don't seem to bother it. Fishead, the automatic feeder is a nutramatic that I use for fish food when I don't feed other stuff. The sun coral smells the food in the water and comes out looking for something...

    sun corals

I have found that using the Coke bottle method of feeding they are actually pretty easy to keep. I feed mine a very fine version of just plain old home made food. My automatic feeder feeds the fish twice a day and shortly after it goes off the sun coral comes out in full and just sits there...

    WON Pro titanium heater

I have not had any problems out of my two ProHeat's. It tells you on the web site how to adjust it so that it reads the same temp on your temp probe and the adjustment dial. And once you get the temp where you like it, a piece of electrical tape across the dial does a good job of protecting it...

Variable speed controller on a fan setup?

Maybe try doing some research on using a thermister on it. I know some computer fans use them to control the speed so maybe it would work for this to.

Where to find fuse for IceCap

I would not think that disconnecting a bulb would blow the fuse. I don't think that is any different than a bulb going out on it's own, which won't blow the fuse. I really would not put a 30 amp fuse in. The wires connecting the ballast are only 18 gauge and the breaker or fuse for your house...

    Protein Skimmer Noobie Question-

Open the air screw all the way open and leave it. I unscrew it and take it off then put just a little filter floss in there to keep it quite and then thread it back on just enough to hold it. Give it several days to break in. Then slowly open the flow control from the closed position. I...
