    911 Help

If you need water in a hurry you can go to the 24hr Wal-Mart and buy the drinking water in 1 gallon and 2.5 gallon jugs. It's RO, carbon filtered, uv treated, micro filtered and ozonated. Or at least the stuff here is anyway. It's what I use and I have not had any problems.

SD Sand in SC, NC, VA, OH, PA?

Lilbuddy had in another post that the HD in Cary only had 2 bags but had some on order. My friend is going to check it out anyway. I'm sure someone has had to go to HD to buy Christmas presents and saw some in there. Thanks, Alan

SD Sand in SC, NC, VA, OH, PA?

I have a friend that is going through South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Ohio and Pennsylvania on vacation for Christmas. He has my trailer and is on a Southdown/Yardright search for sand to fill it up. He will be going on I-95 mainly but is willing to make detours for the sand. If...

    powerheads (best types)

I am using the ViaAqua 480 pump. Comes with everything, is quite and very strong. I have it turn on and off and it always restarts. The best part is it is only $12.

Could someone point me to the best Hypo Treatment Instructions??

No thats not exactly true. You want to lower your salinity over a 48 hour period and keep it there for 3 weeks then slowly bring it back up over a 1 week period. I think Beth goes over it in detail in the sticky that stays in the top of this forum titled "Basic FAQ". Give that a shot and if you...

    Fishless cycling

I've used it as well with very good results. Just get the ammonia that does not foam up when you shake the bottle. Just make sure the lid is tight first. :) I made that mistake twice in the store when I was looking for it.

    Royal Gramma

Thats why I buy the tank raised when possible. I think it helps out alot with the aggresion. Of course tank raised also has all the other many benefits.

    west coast substitute for southdown?

The sku for Home Depot is 578-819. It is my understanding that the sku is actually somewhat universal for play sand though. It helps but you still have to make sure it's southdown.

    Royal Gramma

I like my tank raised orchid dottyback. (Pseudochromis fridmani) He has a very nice purple color to him. He is also easy to take care of. He is not aggressive at all. I only have 2 other true percs in the tank though and both are bigger than him.

    Water top off system.

No I'm not running it wide open. I stated in the first post that I have a valve to slow the flow down. I use a little ViaAqua 480 pump for it and it comes with a little control valve. I have it set to where it just trickles out. It would be real easy to add another float switch in series with...

    Water top off system.

Clean it? Actually I have not cleaned it. I know, I'm lazy. I'll clean it when it stops working. :D The tube is actually a 35mm film can with a hole in the top for the stem of the float switch. I then got a large suction cup from Target and took the metal thing off. I drilled a hole...

    Water top off system.

I have my float switch inside of a tube that is covered on both ends and has small holes drilled in it. It keeps the snails out of it so they don't climb on the float.

    Water top off system.

I have one that I built my self. It uses a float switch in the tank (I don't have a sump yet) that turns on a relay that activates the pump. I have the pump in a bucket of top off water with a piece of tubing going up to the tank. I have a valve on the pump to slow the flow down so I don't...

OT- All the divers out there

JPeavyTX, we stayed at Fantasy Island also! I thought it was the greatest place to stay. The people there were just great to be around, and Teresa is just plain HOT. They really don't make it any easier to dive thats for sure. We went over to Anthony's Key and it looks like the facilitys are...
