    Need Lighting HELP!!!

I am in the process of priming and painting my tank stand and canopy that I have built. I have some lighting question though. I'm looking at the retrofit fixtures with reflectors for my canopy. I was originally wanting to do a small reef style tank, but think that I will start out with a FOWLR...

    my 150 build

I'm going to have to watch this one.... I like the trim on the sides like the front. I think it will help round out the build, unless both ends will be up against a wall or something. Are you going to do a canopy and match it to the stand??? Later shane

    Quarantine/Tank Help

I understand what your saying, the water isn't cycled, it is the bacteria in the water, or tank, that establish the water quality and the means to keep it that way. I think I'm getting it now. So if a guy like myself was to use the aquaclear HOB filter for a QT tank with the filter sponge like...

    Quarantine/Tank Help

Not trying to Hi-Jack the thread, but I'm getting ready to set up a QT, if I store it under my DT in the stand, do I need to put a light in there, or does that matter for fish QT'ing. Also, wouldn't you want to use water from your DT to drip acclimate the fish in the QT? Cause I know you just...

    FOWLR....need stocking suggestions

I was originally planning on doing a reef tank, and maybe eventually changing over to one, but I need a stocking suggestion list to choose from. On a fish only tank, can I get by with less light since I won't have any corals? My tank is a 45 gallon 36x12x24. I would like to go semi aggressive...

SUMP/REFUGIUM...is it worth it on my set up???

So you think that making your own sump/refugium out of a 10 gallon tank is worth while? I'm worried that you won't have room for a skimmer and all the stuff that is needed to make it function properly... plus you'll need to drill 1-2 holes in the tank for an overflow if I'm not mistaken. Is it...

New Tank...Need Advice??? FOWLR or REEF???

I am starting my first ever salt water tank build. I have had my heart set on doing live rock and corals...and fish to match the set up, but the more homework I do, I'm thinking a fish only tank with live rock. I just seem to be reading that all the aggressive fish need large tanks, and mine is...

    is this cc???...pic inside

Question from a newbie.... Can you use half and half? CC and LS? Putting the CC on the bottom, and live sand on top? Or will it over time will the LS just settle into the cracks of the CC? Is this a bad idea? Should I take my CC back and get more LS? Thanks shane
