I bought some fiberglass screening for windows at home depot. I want to use this to eel-proof my tank. I don't think this material would rust or anything, so do you think it would be suitable for tank use? I need to put some underwater also near the filter.

I believe it is necessary to do water changes if you have corals to replenish trace elements.

Yup, I used aragonite based playsand (Southdown) on the bottom and covred the top with some LS from this website.

Water seems better. He's not saying don't use plants, he's just saying that don't put them in your main display tank. What a lot of people do is put them in a seperate tank or container below the tank to keep the plants from growing and taking over the display. Having plants in a seperate...
