    Identify These Please

Peppermint shrimp is also a good addition to control the aiptasia. (May not be able to get rid of a larger ones, but will keep any new ones from developing which is why they are so bad, gone untreated, you may wake up to find 2 more, and then 2 more, and so on, and so on... I've also heard...

    diamond watchman goby

I've had one for some time now and it sounds like yours is just trying to get use to it’s new environment. Digging under many rocks, covering some corals, having to rearrange things and repeating the whole process. Eventually, it will find a place (ok, it will build a place) that you will be ok...

    overflow question

The hole goes into the return from the sump to break the back-siphoning that will occur when the pump stops. The overflows will also continue to overflow until the tank gets too low.. (Hopefully you have the kind that do not require to be primed and will start to overflow again when the pumps...

How do you keep your sand white

I am under the impression that one of the problems with cucumbers is if they die, they become very toxic and can take the tank out with them if not taken out quickly. Since they are sometimes in the sand, they could easily be missed. Or was this just for a particular kind of cucumber?

    Ammonia, Problems?!

The first thing that came to my mind while reading your post is what are the ornaments in the tank? Could they be breaking down from age? Not sure why it would spike the ammonia levels, but it sounds like it's time for some logical reduction. Remove the ornaments by placing them in separate...

Coralline.. Scrape it. or leave it grow?

My tank is over a year old now. Coralline is covering most of the back and parts of the sides (so I can look behind rocks). I was under the impression keeping it on the back is preferred and should be left alone. However, looking at many great pics here on this board, I see many have a clean...

How do you keep your sand white

I was having the same problem until I got my Diamond.. Seen here outside his hole.. Be warned, they do a lot of digging and shifting of sand. Every so often you may need to use a baster (or power head) and blow off the rocks. However, the enjoyment of watching him work is well worth it...

    LR Bio-balls??

Since your talking about submerging them.. I can see your point, its been the trickle of water through bio-balls (the dry part of the filter) that I've been told, and have had problems with nasty tank growth which led me to replaced them with filter material.. but I'm not expert..

    jacking ur lfs... haha

When I purchased my sump, I had a pack of seaweed on it at the counter, they scanned the seaweed and gave me a total which was way wrong. They apparently thought the seaweed was part of the sump. On another visit, I purchased three different livestock items along with other items.. I placed the...

    Hair Algae

Strictly based on observation at LFS.. I noticed they had a bad hair algae problem in 2 of 3 tank partitions, they had several Sally lightfoots in the the third which was pretty clean.. (I suggested they separate them into different partitions to clean the other ones up..) I have one and it's...

    need help please

Far from an expert but I see two concerns.. Yellow water.. and no Nitrate level which seems to indicate your bio-system isn't up to speed... You really need to figure out why your water is turning yellow and doing water changes from the same source may not improve things. Do you have a well...

    RO DI Unit

GPD becomes a mute point if you have storage capability. I connected my unit to a brand new 45 Gal heavy duty trash can with a float switch. I placed a power head in the bottom to keep the water moving and I now have enough to maintain a 55, 39, 20 and 10 gal tanks in my home. (Ok, I have to...
