Fed Ex brought my LR today

Hey KDLBEM, Those pores are actually barnacles... our rock was covered with them. You will notice more and more of them. They actually filter stuff out of the water with their feathery little tounges. There are most likely many feather dusters (tube worms)that are on the rock too... wait...

    Need Your Opinion....

Sounds like a light fish load.. which is never a "bad" thing. Triggers and Gobies though ?? I think a Gobie may look like a piece of sushi to the Trigger when he gets big enough... BTW I have a pre-drilled tank and think it's great! Maybe two small canisters instead ?? $$

    starting the syphon

I think you have to fill the over-flow box with water and then just plug it in... that is how my overflow on my hospital starts. It will slowly draw water up through the inlet pipe once you put the water in. Good Luck !! :pUnless there is some machanicle way of removing the air from the...

Canister Filters and Wet/Dry filters ???

Fishinchick, HI! I agree with BurnNspy on the high nitrates! My 75 has LR and LS and I wound up removing most of the bio balls in my wet/dry just to bring down the nitrate level. It is a great sump though, it houses the skimmer and heaters, so the tank looks less like a hospital patient!!

    Huma Huma or Picasso?

Amber, Hmmm... Now, I bought a Picasso last week at my LFS and they had Huma's in the next tank. The only slight difference I saw, was the Picasso had two bluish lines diagonally on it's side and the Huma's didn't have the same markings. They did look different for sure though. I thought the...

Fed Ex brought my LR today

KDLBEM, Hi! I got my rock from this site back in February. It does have tons of life. Their rock is not cured though, it's aqua-cultured so it's litterally taken right from the ocean before they ship it. There may be a little die off, but not much if your tank is cycled already. There are...

    Spots?

Any progress with the Salfin ?? We actually lost our new Blue Spotted Puffer last night :( He got stuck in the power head suction. Who knows how long he was there. My husband found him this morning and I could not even look at the poor guy. :( :( :(

    Biological filter question?? Need advice!

I know it does seem a little much to change it all. The spots were there in the morning and then gone in the afternoon, so I suspect Ick for sure. We are just so confused right now!!! We are actually going to maybe try a product called Greenex and hold off on the break down. Hopefully...

    Spots?

Our's did not have Black Ich either. I felt so bad because the little guy was fighting for a while to stay alive. Whatever parasitic or internal diease it was, unfortuatley was stronger them him. I remember it was a blotchy black that started towards the center of his body on one side, then...

    Biological filter question?? Need advice!

Thanks for the post Beth. We're aware of fish being the host, but have decided that we would rather take the LR & LS out, to more easily treat disease. We have five fish in this tank (2 Damsels, Blue Spotted Puffer, Picasso Trigger and a Blue Angel) and to cramp them all into our 10 gallon HT...

    Spots?

Fishman, Make sure you keep on top of whatever it is.. we had a Salfin that had black spots that got pretty blotchy looking. We tried to treat him and nothing worked, it may have been internal. Good luck !

    Biological filter question?? Need advice!

Hi everyone, After recently battling ick in a reef tank and losing, we decided to just purchase a new tank and start a small reef (30 gallon) and use our 75 for a agressive, fish only. So here we are a month or so into the set up and we have decided that since we saw the disappearing white...

    Puffers with Humu Trigger

Pufferlover, No rush with adding any new guys... we just had a fish plan and those were the remaining fish we wanted to add. It's funny the one convict Damsel is a little meany but he is so small no one cares!! The Angel is the bully for now, he is a little nippy. I will give it a few days for...

    Puffers with Humu Trigger

PufferLover, Thank you for the fast reply!! :) Well, so far everything seems peaceful! So the Spotted does the dart when he's mad. Maybe since the Angel nipped at him when he went by "his" rock, he got mad. What a hard choice it would be to choose between the two if I had to remove one...

    Puffers with Humu Trigger

Okay, I just read some posts and it seems I have my answer. Guess the LFG was wrong.. The Picasso is smaller than the Puffer, but that won't stay for very long. Now what ??!!

    Dumb mistake with my LR

Hello, After just reading another post, I realized I made a big "Boo Boo" this morning. I put Coppersafe in my hospital tank which has a piece of jumbo piece of LR in it. I thought one of the Damsels looked like it had a few spots on it, so figured I'd treat the tank. Anybody have...
