    I think I need a water cooler/chiller

Thankyou very much for the help, we live in the okanagan in BC and it gets very hot here in the summer! Like 35 degrees celcius so the heat is a real concern. We have air conditioning but I dont think it is going to make a real huge difference with the MH lights. So I think I will get a cooler...

    New to the reef game!

Tanks for the advice I appreciate it greatly, I really thought my cl220 was gonna work good but it really isnt skimming as much as I thought it would. I will have to buy a new one. Should I get it rated for a larger tank than what I have? Thats why I went with the 220. I am also getting alot of...

$100 dinner for my harlequin bass!

Things are alot more expensive up here in Canada. Those fish have alot longer way to go. I do agree though it is alot more expensive after hearing some of your pricing.

$100 dinner for my harlequin bass!

I gues thats the problem with combining two tanks. I am gonna have to trade some fish to make this system reef safe before adding corals and such.

    New to the reef game!

Well if I have to buy a new skimmer , I would love to hear some recomendations as to what I should get. The tank is 180G, with an allglass #4sump ( not to sure on how many gallons it is, I am guessing somewhere between 20 and 30 G ) and I am adding the 30G refugarium. So should be somewhere...

    New to the reef game!

I have decided that I am going to build an external refugium for our new tank. We have tonnes of spare aquarium parts as well as 2x75G tanks and a 30G tank. I had the bottom drilled for an overflow in the 30G tank and am going to build a stand and plumb it to the sump on the 180G system. I was...

    New to the reef game!

The problem lies in the fact I have $300 bucks invested in that skimmer and it is brand new. I broke down all the boxes for it as well. Not sure what I should do? Definatly dont want it to sit on the shelf and I am pretty sure I cant return it.

If you have a suggestion it would be greatly appreciated. I only know the coralife brand and if I am doing harm to the tank I would want to stop that as soon as possible. I really appreciate the advice as well. I saw your shallow tank thread...what an amaising tank and set up.

You dont think the coralife 220 is good enough? Just curious cause it was recommended by local fish retailer. ( granted I only know a little he seems to have his s#&t together) It was real expensive too!

I am very happy with the lights! It is very clean and streamline. I have heard now of other getting what i am guessing is the same lights for way less than I payed for. I payed $1700. It is 72 " long.

    New to the reef game!

I am really interested in adding a refugium to my new set up. I think it will be a neat feature to add to our existing set up as well as help filter the water. The problem lies in that i have enough equipment to build one but the tank I have in mind isnt plumbed for a sump. I would like to add...

    New to the reef game!

Yeah we are really happy with the look of the tank. The MH lights just make everything POP! I spent some time last night reading some of the forums and particularilly a custom 240G shallow in wall tank. OMG, what a set up! I feel a little overwhelmed today about how far this can really go. I...

Anything we should be careful of before we add corals? Any recomendations on how long we should wait. The rock is over 3 years old and I used all the water from our other tanks as well. I tested the water today and all is good except our nitrates are a tiny bit high.
