Try looking for sand/grit or even magnet particles where the prop shaft enters the PH. I had some sand in mine. Worked fine after cleaning it out with a Q-tip.
Sea slug, nudibranch, type critter. Do I want this in my reef tank? Sorry, for the cruddy pictures. Ivory colored, approx 1" in length, 2 horn-like appendages on head. Horns are dark, almost black.
TIA,
Bear
JK,
Do you want me to measure my light setup for you? You'll have to have an open top...or at least, some free air movement for the light kit fixture. It does put out some heat.
This particular fixture uses 14-36" bulbs.

I reckon it depends on the shrimp's disposition. I have one that lives in the same tank as a Skunk Cleaner and several fish. He pretty much hangs out in one part of the tank. The Skunk hangs out at the other end of the tank. No problems so far. However, I do occasionally hand him a small...
I'm happy with my Aquatinics Constellation 72". 14 bulbs, all with individual reflectors. The fixture has fans too but no moonlights. I added my own without any trouble.
My BTA has just "wandered" near some Zoos. What techniques are out there to get him loose from the LR and away from my Zoos. The BTA is touching them now.....or is this harmless?
Thanks,
Bear
No. It was new live rock. I didn't even know what it was for a few seconds. Apparently, they are pretty intolerant of salinity extremes. Although I wouldn't want a Mantis in my tank, I find them kind of fascinating. Kind of like looking at an alien. His eyes were studying me while I was...
I dipped some LR is some really salty water, 1.040. Didn't seem to hurt the rock and Bristle Worms and a small Mantis came "flying" out of the rock in just a few seconds. Kind of fun to watch, actually.
It fell apart and was polluting my tank. It's taking a Hefty ride to the street now. I did try the iodine dip on what was left but I reckon it was too late. I'm doing a partial water change now. All other corals still looking fine. I'll get another Colt soon and try it lower in the tank...
I don't see any Nudibranches. The Colt is looking mighty poorly right now. Complete stalks are about to separate from the rock. Should I trash it before I get dead stalks floating all over the tank or is the coral doing something that's perfectly normal. It just doesn't look very good to me...
They're fun to watch. They look nice. And if they weren't aquacultured, they had a long plane ride over here. (Airfare isn't all that cheap anymore!) They're worth it, IMO.
Thanks! Good tip. I'll check now and later tonight when the lunars come on. Never thought about possible predators. Colt is still looking poorly. It went from about 5" to about 3" and it's much darker now. All other coral are doing fine.
It's pretty much getting moderate flow and it's mounted pretty much in the middle of the tank. It's looking pretty bad right now, like it may need some Red Bull or something.
