    Please help my poor goby

Frank, there were a couple of your questions I didn't answer. The Ampicillex is a wide spectrum anti-fungal/anti-bacterial. It's dosage is 2 capsules(250mg each) every other day for three treatments. Which is what I did. As far as it's mixture, it says "250mg capsules of water soluble Ampicillin...

    Please help my poor goby

Thanks for the response. The goby is normally black with yellow wavy vertical stripes. He looks like an eel. The glands I'm talking about are behind the jaw line. Now the glands are back to normal. His top fin, running his length, is ragged and torn. It gets worse the closer to his tail. Since...

    Please help my poor goby

I think my 10" goby has a bacterial infection. He had some whitish pea sized spots for a while that no one on this BB had any answers for. Then in a period of no more than 48 hours his tail and fin were almost completely desimated. His glands are swollen and he is laboring to breath. I went to...

    my goby!

I just found my 10" goby with horrible fin rot and swollen glands. He is listless and not eating. I don't think I got a good look at him yesterday, but the day before he was fine. Can a bacterial infection do major damage in that short a period of time? What should I do? I found my new firefish...

    tank placement

My tank is in the middle of the dining room/living room. We have a 15 foot ceiling with a skylight. The room gets a lot of sunlight. How much does this effect the tank? I do have a lot of algae right now, but I'm hoping that it is just part of the cycle. I went throught the brown algae and now...

    Anthias

I had a flame anthia for six weeks. It was a beautiful fish - we called it lipstick - because it was a coral color with red lips. But it was a very curious fish and it just disappeared one day. My carpet anenome is my main suspect. Anyway, they are reef safe.

    ro water

Jordan, I buy my ro water at walmart for 58cents per gallon. I use that for my topoffs and just use a tap water filter(deionizer) for water changes and have had excellent results since I started doing this. It depends how good your tap water is -probably good in pa- But anyway, just wanted to...

Over the past few weeks I've seen several posts saying sally lightfoots and mandarin gobies are not reef safe. Can you give me some opinions with reasons. Thanks

    Two questions

My wife just brought home a beautiful carpet anenome. Can anyone give me any care tips. I fed him a piece of silverside today and it was awesome to see him envelope it. Anything else that is good for him? What is a good alkalinity reading? Thanks for the help.

    proper diet

I did a search on preventing disease and quarantining and have been left with a couple of questions. First, how can find out what the proper diet for each specific fish is? I noticed that proper diet was listed as being vital. I currently feed my fish OSI flakes daily and zooplankton...

    new digital pics

I got them just fine and I have to tell you, those corals look awesome. Is it just the closeup or are they huge. They look like they're about 10" in diameter.

    Prizm Skimmer

I love my prizm on a 75g. Just a hint though, when you start- only leave the valve open a very little bit. Over time you can open a little at a time. This advice would have saved me hours of trying to figure out if something was wrong. Good Luck.

    pea sized spots

Beth, The spots are mostly pea sized in diameter and are basically white. A milky greyish white. They are not raised. The odd thing is that they seem to vanish and reappear, sometimes the same spot, but they also move. I know this sounds weird. It is not sand or anything from the tank. Right...

    pea sized spots

5 Days ago I had a power outage for 8 hours. I figure this stress could have something to do with it. This morning I noticed that my 10" goby(still not sure of exact type) had about 8 pea sized white spots on him. He's black with yellow vertical stripes adn various yellow spots normally. I...
