    Flatworm plague.

Use regular airline tubing and siphon out as many as possible.

    Cleaning new live rock.

I've read somewhere to mix your water in a container at a SG of 1.040 and dip the rocks in it for about 3 minutes. That should get rid of any unwanted hitchhikers.

    New lights possibly causing cyano?

I really don't think it is a flow problem because I have tried positioning the PHs in different places with no different effects. The cyano is even growing in high flow areas.

    HELP with EASY corals

I am still new at corals but I use ZooPlan and they are doing great. I have also tried Coralife Invert Smorgasbord but it is a yellow liquid and makes my skimmer go crazy.

    xenia

I have been reading that Xenia doesn't ship well. I have been wanting some white Pom-Pom Xenia and can't find any at my lfs but scared to order online because of that.

    HELP with EASY corals

I have pretty much the same lights on my 55 gal. You should be able to have any type of mushrooms, zoos, torch coral, bubble coral, green star polyps, colt coral and Xenia. These are all fairly easy and only require the additional feeding of invert/filter feeding foods once or twice a week...

    New lights possibly causing cyano?

I have a 55 gal. tank with a 48" Nova Extreme light fixture. It originally came with (2) 54 watt 10,000 K lights, (2) 54 watt actinics and 4 moonlights. One of the 10,000 K lights was broken when I received it so I ordered (2) 85 watt 10,000 K AquaSun lights to replace the 2 54 watt lights. It...

    this is funnyy!

I have a hermit crab that killed a Margarita snail for its shell about a week ago. Then yesterday it was going after my Nassarius snail (had it pinned against a rock) until my 6 line wrasse stepped in. The wrasse would nip at the hermit and make it retract in its shell and every time the...

    clean up crew?

What is your temp. and SG? I personally prefer snails to hermit crabs. Snails seem to do a better job of keeping the tank clean. If you have snails and hermits together, the hermits will kill the snails for their shells. I have even seen hermits pick on my Nassarius snails. I think a good...

    Algae Question

Zebra turbo snails are great for getting rid of hair algae even on the sand bed. The only down side is that they tend to get pretty big and may knock over corals.

What is the most aggressive damsel?!

I had a Domino with a yellowtail blue damsel, a yellow belly damsel and a percula clown. He killed everything except the yellowtail blue but always had it on the run until I finally caught him (after tearing down the tank) and put him in another tank by himself. I now have the yellowtail blue...

    Feather Duster Quest reaps rewards!

Those feather dusters are truly beautiful !!! Thanks for the info on where you got them. Had to go to Baton Rouge today so made a detour on the way home to see if they had any more. Was lucky enough to get a yellow one but not at the price you said you paid for yours. I ended up paying $46...

    my first order

I ordered one of these about a month ago. It was darker than I expected but it has already turned a brighter green and more than doubled in size under T-5 lighting. The first pic was taken 4 days ago under regular lights and the 2nd pic was taken a few minutes ago under the actinic lights.

    BTA and lighting question

Thank you both very much for the quick response. I will continue to leave the lights on for about 10 hrs. per day unless the brown algae gets much worse. So far, the snails are doing a pretty good job of cleaning the algae off the rocks and glass.

    BTA and lighting question

I have a 55 gal. tank and just bought a BTA Tuesday and changed my lights from the stock lights that came with my tank to Nova Extreme T-5 lights (2-54 watt Slimpaq 460nm Actinic, 2-54 watt 10,000K daylight and 4 lunar lights) the same day. Now I have noticed brown algae growing on the glass...
