    Hawkfish and blennies

Well the bright side is that I don't think Blennies are equipped to kill. Mine chases the hawk a lot but I never see any evidence of damage on the hawk. So I would think that he doesn't bite. So at best, they'll stay out of each other's way. At the very worst, your hawk will get stressed out...

    Hawkfish and blennies

    Longnose Butterfly in a Reef?

Does anyone know if this type of fish eats coral? I read conflicting reports about it here and there. To be specific I don't plan on keeping any SPS. Mostly just softies and Euphylia LPS. My tank is a 60g with about 65g of total water volume if you subtract sand/rock displacement and add my...

    Too many water changes?

Ok I've been bad and somewhat neglected my tank for a little bit. As a result I had a severe outbreak of bubble algae and hair algae. I initially did a pretty big water change of around 10 gallons on my roughly 65 gallon system two weeks ago. Since then I've been doing 5 gallon water changes...

Why is my Algae/Sailfin Blenny being MEAN?

I have the exact same problem with my Black Sailfin Blenny (the oldest tank member) and my new Flame Hawkfish. I've tried several things to get my Blenny to chill out including turning off the lights, rearranging the aquascape and even physically sitting near the tank to shoo him away so that...

    Pics of my 60g

My RBTA decided to make an appearance. This guy drives me nuts because he stays in the back of the tank and only pops up now and then. The clowns dive right in when he pops out but ditch him when he retreats to the back. After all, they know the food comes in from the front.

bigarn: I'm not sure. what does a stung coral look like? I know that I've never had it within stinging distance while in my tank and it looked fine at the LFS. So I'm pretty sure it was because of damage while I drove it home. stuckinfla: I've had it for three or four months now and it did have...

    Overstocked?

Dang if you're overstocked then I've got a sardine can. I have nearly the same system except my tank is 60 gallons. 2 Oscellaris Clowns 2 Firefish 1 Kole Tang 1 Black Sailfin Blenny 1 Sixline Wrasse and a Flame Angel in QT. Still, I have very little aggression (mostly just from the sixline)...

    Pics of my 60g

This red brain spit out its zoozanthele a long time ago and I was worried I'd lose it, but it's stuck around and has looked this way for a few months now. How long do they usually take to get their color back? Did it get too much light? Too little?

    Pics of my 60g

and now for some of my problem corals. Does anyone know what's with my Lobo? It's totally healthy except for the top left corner of the top polyp. I think it might have had shipping damage cause I think the dark discoloration is a part of skeleton that was poking through. The surrounding area...

Thanks for the kudos on the aquascaping. I'm real glad the pieces I had fit together so nicely. I have roughly 80 lbs or so of live rock in the tank right now. You wouldn't think it by looking at it though. I guess its really dense rock. It started off about half and half in terms of live rock...

    Sump?????

I don't think all that is necessary. Just hook everything up, fill with new water and let er rip. Assuming you have everything plumbed right, the new water will mix with the old just like a water change. I added my sump and refugium to my existing tank without the need for any "sump cycle". HTH

    food for a blenny

I always thought scooter blennies were more Dragonet than they were Blennies. So in that case, they wouldn't eat algae, at least not as their main food source. Do you have a refugium? I'm pretty sure they eat pods but also give the mysis a shot.

    Fish stocking suggestions/ideas

My experience with a sixline is the opposite. I'd add one near last since mine has been a bit of a bully. Plus it might have issues with the Gramma. So put it in before the angel, tang and foxface but after everything else. Your list looks good except for the Powder Tangs. Both need pretty big...
