    Pics of my 60g

This is the tank last month or so. I have a new Monti Cap and 2 firefish that I recently added but I'm too lazy to take pics right now. Heh.

    Pics of my 60g

Here are some pics of my newbie-ish 60 gallon. Excuse the poor quality pictures. As a poor film student in an expensive hobby and major, I don't have a digital still camera. So these are screen captures using my DV Cam. I set up the tank in mid-June. As opposed to a reef tank with decorative...

    Creating an angry little world

Yellowtails might be the least aggressive damsel but its still damn aggressive. I have one in my tank that I'm sure is responsible for four oscellaris clown deaths. I'm going insane trying to catch him! I'm trying the bottle trap and just tonight tried the flashlight at night tactic. It would...

Do I have any more room? 60G Stocking

Oh definitely. I read up on Brook and it can only be transmitted by touch or fishes swimming near each other since the parasite can't swim far. So with the two diseased fishes dead I'm hoping it's clear. But yeah I'll take the precaution of leaving the Kole in QT a little bit longer.

Do I have any more room? 60G Stocking

My fish load has significantly decreased since I started this thread. First one of the damsels just up and disappeared. He was sickly from the beginning. One of his eyes either fell of or was bitten off and he showed lots of signs of battle damage. I did the 3 week quarantine period but in...

    Requesting help. PLEASE (Clean-Up Crew)

I think the problem with an urchin is that it eats coralline algae which a lot of reefers want. I know I do. Otherwise I think urchins have no other downsides. Still that's a pretty big downside.

    Need Help Fragging Hammer

Ok I've got a wall hammer with receding tissue. The left side looks horrible. I can see exposed skeleton ad what flesh is left does not extend fully. The right side however, looks perfectly healthy. I'd like to salvage what I can from this coral and cut it in half. First of all, is this a good...

    Open Brain Losing Flesh

I had the same thought about the lugols. I went and bought some today but since I had a ton of errands to do, I didn't get home until 1am. When I pulled the brain out for the dip, all the flesh fell off. I'm now stuck with a very expensive piece of base rock. :( Do you guys suggest I lugol dip...

    Open Brain Losing Flesh

I've got a green trach that appeared healthy when I bought it around two weeks ago. However, I've been noticing a small piece of exposed skeleton that's been getting bigger and bigger. There are now something like 6 spines showing. Tank stats: ammonia - 0 nitrite- 0 nitrate - <10 ph 8.2 SG 1.025...

    Nitrite after medicating

Wow that's a beautiful fish Beth! :) How long have you had him? Do you think it'd be possible to get them to eat at the same time the other fishes do? I'm trying to build up my pod population, but it's tough with a sixline wrasse in the tank.

    Nitrite after medicating

Luckily I had the fish in the QT for about two and a half weeks already when I started dosing the Paragon. It stayed in there another five days when I did the test. So since the three week quarantine to check for ich was over, I moved him to the DT. He's been doing well and actively hunts at...

    Nitrite after medicating

Ok thanks Beth. Up to now, the Nitrite is still off the scale even after another 50% water change. Hard to believe that this much nitrite built up after just 5 days, but I guess I'll wait for it to cycle once again.

    Nitrite after medicating

I was on week two of Quarantining my Banggai Cardinal and after hearing of so many of em dying from internal parasites, I decided to do a prophylactic treatment. I got some product called Paragon which was recommended by my LFS. I followed the instructions and dosed accordingly. The Banggai did...

    GFCI tripping

Having the exact same problem. It'd be easier if it'd stay tripped until I unplugged the faulty piece of equipment, but mine also just goes back to normal after resetting. I'm thinking my lights are the main culprits. Will have to check the wiring again.

Particles, powerhead prefilters, sand, snail, temp, & clownfish questions

You could try getting some more rock (either live or base it'll all end up the same) and put them in the spots where the sand is getting blown around. They'll absorb the water flow and redirect it. Besides it's good to have water moving through your rock anyways. Plus I see you only have around...

    Worm or Poop ID

I've got this insanely long white thing stuck to the glass on the back of my tank. It's somewhat compressed by bending, but if I were to take it and stretch it out, it'd be at least 4 feet long. It's about the width of a piece of a string and completely white. No visible eyes bristles or...

Need info on WC Banggai Disease

Could you explain what that procedure is cincyreefer? Does it involve pipzine? I've looked around for this medication and it's pretty hard to come by from what I can tell. I found one place but they require some sort of chemical release waiver to get it. Anyways, my Sixline Wrasse cleared QT a...

Can't Get Rid of Brown Algae!

I wouldn't use any additives to take care of algae. Most times it just goes away by itself. My tank was all brown for a while so I added a tiny cleanup crew. The combination of the algae eaters and the exhausting of nutrients was enough to cause the diatoms to die off. Patience. Algae killing...
