    Icky Tang!

I have a yellow tang that has never shown any signs of having ich, but once I bought a cleaner shrimp it was doing its cleaning thing all of the time to her. Actually, my tang started to annoy the cleaner because she would push and block it until it hopped on! Now the cleaner shrimp tries to...

    help?

SaltOne, do you have a frogspawn? If not, I would buy one just for the head-turning! Mine is green with pink tips and they need the same care as other hard corals, such as the bubble and hammer(this one is a great choice too). I ordered the frogspawn from this site and have had good luck with it.

    who knows about feather dusters?

I have had a couple of large feather dusters for several months now and they have never been damaged by the crabs in my tank. They love the current (not too strong) and look so graceful when they come out of their tubes. In the time that I have had these feather dusters, they have both...

    What Do Snails Eat?

I have noticed the same thing, but all the snails are doing is cleaning the nuisance algae away from the polyps.

    bristleworms

That's awesome! I hate bristle worms (despite what some people say about the benefits of having them). Your plan sure beats the best technique that I have: I wait for them to poke out of a rock and I grab them with large tweezers. Believe me, that is not fun! Thanks for the info. [This...

whats the titles under our name about?

I asked myself that question before too. The titles are like a rank; as you post new topics and replies (there is a specific amount), the name changes.

corl first time in new tank?

I try to keep my tank at 78-80 degrees although that can be difficult during the summer. If you want to go the expensive route, chillers are your best option. I compensate with maintaining a constant temp. on my thermostat (it seems to help even though I get cold sometimes!). I would recommend...

Where in the world are the fish lovers?

I live in Lawrence, Kansas--home of the University of Kansas Jayhawks. If you have ever been to Austin, Texas it is a larger version of Lawrence. Great local bands and beer and thirty minutes away is Kansas City with awesome BBQ, jazz and the Kansas City Chiefs! Aside from the humidity, it...

    Something New in the Tank

MikeTV, I noticed those same things in my tank a couple of weeks ago and asked my LFS what they thought it could be. Their answer: some sort of snail. Whether they are right I am not sure; I just keep watching the little creatures.

    electric flame scallops

I have two LFS that each have one of those flame scallops and they look so cool, but I am afraid to risk my little percs. Of course, I have not had problems with many species of corals, fish and inverts that I read bad things about. I guess you never know...

    electric flame scallops

Be careful jtoliver and Mr. Salty... I have read stories that the flame scallops have been known to eat small fish. In particular, one man said that he saw his percula being devoured by one.

    reef stuff

Salt One, I agree with KMR on Star Polyps. They tend to spread rapidly plus they are beautiful in the reef tank. You could also take single mushrooms and rubber band them to the rocks, where they will eventually fix themselves to the the piece.

    Lifespan for perculas?

Clownfish, I have had one of my percs for 2 years. I think that I read a percula clowns life span is up to 15 years.

    bristle shrimp and mantis worms

I had a mantis shrimp come with a piece of live rock that I bought from my LFS, luckily I noticed it before I put the rock in my tank... I did some reading on these guys and they pack a blow as strong as a 22 calibur bullet being shot! One guy saw a mantis in the ocean while he was scuba...

    Bright Orange Ball

This weekend I found what I thought was an egg left from my percula's, but today I looked again and have doubts. It is a bright orange ball. What I noticed today is that there are tentacles coming from the rim with little orange balls at the end. Does anyone know what the hell this is? Thanks!

    Tubastrea Sun.

I purchased a tubastrea sun from this site and have had great luck. It is a wonderful addition to my tank, in fact if you can create a cave with the live rock in your tank place the sun under/inside it. They tend to come out only in the dark. After two months, however, mine are out and ready...

    hundreds of bristle worms!!

Over the last three weeks I have been bristle worm hunting and to my luck, succeeded. I have read both sides of the story on these guys; some say they are good if you have a live sand bed (info on this site) and others say bristle worms can be harmful. Personally, I don't like the things...
