GREEN Hair in my tank - OHHHHHH NO!!!!

Got back from holiday & my tank is a MESS!! All my snails are dead as well as 2 of my 3 urchins. Hermits, shrimp, anenome & fish ok. Needless to say, all of the live rock is COVERED w/green hair algae, smothering my beautiful coralline algae. What I need to know is: Will snails take care of it...

    Coraline Algae

I recently did a post re: my coralline algae not doing so well as of late. Also am using Coral Vital by M. Weiss. What else should I be adding to the tank as a supplement?? Don't want to be adding too much stuff that's not needed - keeping it as uncomplicated as possible is better, in my...

    Something FUNKY growing - HELP!!!

Thanks for your suggestions. Do have quite a good selection of "janitors" but, they don't seem to interested in the hair algae at all. Thought when this stuff started to appear, my yellow tang might do a number on it - nada. Also, would lighting have any effect? And, as conditions improve...

    Something FUNKY growing - HELP!!!

Had some good coralline algae growing for quite awhile & now it seems to have stopped. Have noticed, too, that the rocks are starting to be covered with this brownish growth & a couple have this red mat type growth. Also, have this one rock that's got some green (looks like hair) stuff on it...

    I LOVE CORAL VITE

I also have been using Reef Vital DNA for ahwile now & have noticed remarkable results. All of a sudden, it seemed, I had coralline algae popping out all over the place!! Not only does it promote growth of this particular algae but, also prevents ich & has a bunch of other good stuff in it. It's...

    Long Spine

I also have one of those critters & have had him for quite awhile now. He does tend to knock over things periodically while cruisin' & munches on some coralline algae & other algae but that's all - haven't had any other problems. I think he's really neat & an interesting addition to the tank!

    Blackworms

My lfs gave me some black worms to try as a treat recently. Said that not to feed as a staple since they don't have all the necessary good stuff for healthy fish. I would take a few on my finger & just kinda swish them around in the water. It was like a free for all!! Watch what & what doesn't...

Survey: Favorite additive for Coraline algea?

Good suggestion, Ranger. I also have been using Reef Vital DNA by Marc Weiss for awhile now & it truly is amazing stuff! A bit spendy but, it does work - for me anyway. One teaspoon will do 100 gal. so you don't have to use alot & you don't have to use it everyday. Good stuff!!!

Hi everybody - Have had this 'Foxface' for about 4wks now & all has been well til a couple of days ago. Here's the deal. Noticed 4 small brown dots on one side (all in a line). Didn't think to much of it as I have to Banded Coral Shrimps that get a little feisty if somebody gets to near -...

Am thinking of adding a coral or two to my tank & need some help. In the tank right now have a royal gramma, juv imperator, a couple of banded coral shrimp, 3 urchins & 2 mandarin dragonets. What fish would be compatible w/corals & what would be some good starter corals. The juv imperator really...

I have a GFI also to try & prevent getting zapped big time! Believe my hubby picked it up @ a hardware/home-type store - not very expensive. The unit has a plug, 2 sockets & a master switch. Main thing is to make SURE that the GFI plug goes into your wall & if you have any strip units, that they...
