    missing damsel please help!!

I just noticed this morning my dominoe damsel missing when I was feeding- (He never missed a meal before). My wife said she hadn't seen him last night either. So I began moving rocks and stuff looking for him. I eventually found him under a rock, dead, not sure why but he had been losing color...

    Water Changes

I've been told that a 20%-30% water change every three weeks is ideal, but I would like to know if a 10% weekly water change would be just as good, better or worse? I guess the thing that concerns me is that with more frequent smaller changes, am I removeing ENOUGH water at a time to make a...

    interested in starting a tank

This site is about the best I've found, but another good resource is About.com's Saltwater Aquarium section. http://saltaquarium.about.com/pets/s...rium/mbody.htm Lots of links to good info all over the web can be found there. -Dennis

    Assorted Puffer Info?? Please Help!

I have been studying all I can about Puffers for the last few months as I am preparing to get one soon (a Porcupine Puffer - Diodon Hystrix). This is the first I've ever heard of an Assorted Puffer, but that doesn't really count for much I guess. I've noticed that many Fish Stores know little...

    Do Hermit Crabs molt???

I just had two of my three Hermits molt, and if I wasn't able to do a head count, I would have sworn they were dead! Much different from the fiddler crab I have who molted an empty looking shell. Check out the pictures on my website listed in my profile. (click the little index card icon above...

    Re: Domino Damsels :-(

I recently added two Clowns to my tank that had two Yelow Tail Damsels and a Domino Damsel. The Domino was always a bully but when I added the Clowns, they all settled down! Much more peaceful tank now. - Dennis

    Tap water purifier

I have the same unit. It is a bit slow but not too bad. I fill up a couple 5 gallon buckets (one with fresh water, one with salt mix)and let them set with covers on) until needed. Then I use a heater to warm it up before i do the water change. -Dennis

    water test results

Ammonia and Nitites should be at 0 after your tank cycles. It may rise if new fish are added until the bio filter can catch up. Nitrates should be under 20, the lower, the better. pH should be around 8.2 (8.0-8.4), I don't know about alkalinity, I dont have a test for that. I use the Aq...

    STEPS

I do not have a Protien Skimmer yet, but I was told this is something, if you buy one, you get what you pay for. So buy a good one. I also, like Porkypuffer, have a Tap Water Purifier. If you can't afford a few hundred dollars for a full DO/RI unit, this seems to be much better than using...
