Help me fine tune my 75G's plumbing...please

I am planning on keeping my bio load down to a minimum. A couple clown fish and the rest will be inverts and corals. I have a 210 for fish:) Keeping the 55 strictly reef. I can always expand the size of my fuge, if I need to, plenty of room.

Help me fine tune my 75G's plumbing...please

Hey Squidd, I am running an algaescrubber fuge, around 10 gallons for a 55 gallon display. I am also running a skimmer that turns my water over four times per hour. I think that the combination of bare bottom, quality LR, sweeping currents, very high flow, oversized powerful skimmer, fuge with...

Help me fine tune my 75G's plumbing...please

I set out to achieve as pristine water as possible. I want as low of Nitrates and Phosphates as possible. I decided to get rid of as much waste as possible, before the system gets to process it and thus produce nitrates and phosphates. If you are looking for pods, thats a different story I guess.

Help me fine tune my 75G's plumbing...please

In my humble opinion.... There are basically two schools of thought out there, waste removal and waste processing. If you use raw water for your refugium, you are processing waste, which defeats the purpose of a refugium, imho. If I were you... I would have the drain draining into the skimmer...

How nutrient poor should an aggressive tank be? As poor as you can get it? Or leave some?

    An experiment

hey throd:) Basically, I put a separate overflow into the refugium in order to get more raw water on there. You can put a valve on the over flow to slow down the flow if you want. The other thing I did was a U tube to move water from refugium to pump area. That way I dont use another pump.

    An experiment

I have learned not to believe pump ratings anymore. The 950 is replacing a 660. The 660 couldnt keep up with just overflow and the 950 is overpowering two over flows. The system is stable as it is, so go figure:)

    An experiment

Ok, this is just an experiment. The goal is to keep the tank as clean as possible with minimum nitrates. This is a 55 gallon glass, The rocks are setup on top of egg crate platform, suspended about an inch off the bottom. A long pipe running across the bottom is blowing all the detritus through...

Protein Skimmer for a 210 FOWLR

I am setting up a 210, finished cycling now. Which skimmer would you recommend? Am I overdoing it with these two? The step down would be: AquaC 180 Reef Devil Deluxe

need to know flow rate from drain line.

I have a 210 with two 1" drains. I have a 2400 GPH pump running full blast. I noticed that there is a certain balance there. If your water level is too low, the pump will out do the drains. If the water level is higher, than there is a balance.

    Tank bowing - Not level

I noticed that my tank is bowing a bit in the center. It is a 72"X24"X30" all-glass. It is about an 1/8" bow, no big deal. I checked my leveling and noticed that the front is 1/4" lower than the back of the tank. Should I empty out the water and shim it? Or not worry about it?
