The pics that you saw probably had to do with lateral line disease. MM is proven to cure and prevent lateral line disease. It had nothing to do woth the nitrate levels (I didn't see the pictures, but that is what I'm guessing)

Premium Aquatics (.com) has MM for $50.00 for 5lbs. I'm happy that L.O.T.R. agrees with me on this. There are many that don't think that MM is worth the money, but if you're going to invest all of that money in a reef tank, get the best stuff available.

That's why I add phytoplankton a couple of times a week. I turn off the UV steralizer for 3 or 4 hours after I add it.

I have an eco system for each of my tanks (3). My nitrates haven't been above 5 for 2 years. I only change 10 gallons once a month. There are many who wouldn't spend the money on it, but I wouldn't not have it (that was a gramatical masterpiece)
