    Welcome to the family!

Hmmm... Here's the thing though, he doesn't come out of that corner even when the lights are on. He usually comes out a little at feeding time, but he stays in the same vicinity. :( I think I'll get his tank mate, I hope he's still at the LFS. -Jes

    Welcome to the family!

Thanks Frenchman, The other fish don't even notice he's in there. I have a 3 stripe damsel, blue damsel, and a snowflake eel. He has eaten, but I have had to place the food (flake and squid) close to him so that he will see it and eat it. At my LFS he was in a tank with another Percula, should...

    Welcome to the family!

Hi All, I recently purchased a percula clown. I am sort of worried because ever since I have placed him in the tank he has been hovering at the top in the corner. :( Should I worry? He has not come down to inspect his surroundings at all! Also, do the perculas seem happier in pairs? Thanks...

    I almost lost the Snowflake!!

I got a snowflake eel last night. Everything was cool, he was swimming around investigating the tank and rocks. I observed him until midnight then I went to bed. The next thing I know my wife is waking me up at 6am saying 'I have some bad news, the eel is on the floor'. I think that...

    Bulk Trash!!!!

Sunday was my lucky day! :D I was going home from a friend's house and low-and-behold there was an entire aquarium setup sitting outside waiting to be picked up from bulk trash!! I'm not sure, but it looks around 30 gallons. It had a stand, two filters, lights, and a 150W heater. I was...

New to board with new Tank!

Ok cool, I'm more than halfway there then. I just added 40 lbs of LS. I went with Rick's technique (4" pvc pipe) and it worked like a charm, thanks Rick. I removed my LR and placed them back onto the sand bed. The damsels were a little freaked out at first, but they have acclimated...

New to board with new Tank!

Sounds great! I currently have about 30 lbs LS in the tank. Can I mix up about 20lbs of Southdown and 20lbs of LS and add it on TOP of my LS in the tank? Will that be a problem? -Jes

    couple of questions about sand

Hi Beth, What if I already have LS in the tank? I have about 30 lbs in there currently. Can I just mix up the Southdown and LS in a bucket and then drop it in? What sort of ratio - 1lb of Southdown for 1lb LS? And I'm with RMDavis, please explain the Detritore kit. Thanks, -Jes ;)

New to board with new Tank!

Thanks for the info everyone! :) That is very helpful, I will go out and get some more LS soon. While adding the sand should I put all my damsels in a bucket (with the same tank water of course)? Or can I just add the sand with them in the tank? I have a feeling it might be safer to put them...
