Same here. I have to use anywhere from 1/2 to 3/4 a gallon for my 65 gallon. I do have a fan blowing on my tank for heat issues. However, I don't shut the pump off when I add water. Should I?

Ok, I think I got it. It's the return that is important, not the pipe that sucks the water down into the sump? Once air gets into the return pipe water will stop flowing into the sump?

I have a 65g. I keep the water level in the sump on the water level line that came with the sump, which is pretty much at the bottom of the bio balls. I have tested this before and shut the power off and the water still ran over the top of the sump. Can I pull the pipe up higher that sucks...

I did my test run with my 65g today. Everything worked fine, except the pump seems to be noisy. Is that normal? Don't recall the brand name or GPH. Cost $140.00 I didn't think it would be that noisy? What can I do to make it more quiet? :thinking: buy a new pump... lol

Ok so I bought what I believe to be some good lighting. 1 X 250w 10,000K HQI MH, 2 X 65w True Actinic 03 Blue and 2 x 1w Lunar Blue-Moon-Glow. This came with a HQI metal halide Ballast. What is the purpose of the Ballast?

Yeah, that's South Florida for ya... dig 4 inches into the ground and you hit coral. Every time I plant flowers or palm trees. It's all over, some are very small but some are huge... So I'm going to give this a try. Cause I like the holes and crevaces...

Yeah, haven't purchased LR yet. Was going to check on this BR, then purchase LR from swf.com and cycle all together in a new tank. From reading the posts, I believe I can do this.

Probably easier to dig up some more. But fertilizer obviously soaks through the ground. I would love to use this as BR. But I'm new and don't want to get off on the wrong foot.

I have a lot of this dead coral rock in my back yard. It is orange color from the well sprinkler system and black from being wet and I assume some type of fungus. If I boil and scrub these rocks can I use them? I will be purchasing LR also.
