Thanks I have two Wave2k's coming one for each end. They are supposed to turnover about 4000gph ea. I am hoping that will do it in the dt without anymore powerheads.

Earlier advise said that the sump should turn over 5x per hour. The return pump then should be pumping around 300gph if the sump is a 65 gallon. I'm getting confused, am I not thinking this through the correct way?

Ok well my plan is to have the drains drop into one end of my 65 sump and pump out the other end back to the dt. I'm not really looking for the returns as a way to increase flow or turnover I guess. To turn the sump 5x I really only need a pump that returns about 300gph @ 5 feet? Is that right?

Ha yeah I'm pretty new to all of this. The line "Keep in mind that the flow from sump to tank is a lot less efficient than a closed loop" is what confuses me. I guess I don't fully understand what a closed loop is.

With a 240 tank and a 65 sump. Two 1" returns and two 1 1/2" drains. How many times should the water pass thru the sump per hour?

Is it ok to mix say a 20,000k with (2) 13,000k all 250W in the same 72" fixture? Looking at a fixture that has (3) 250w HQI + (4) 24w T5 bulbs.

It's a new set-up but the tank is 30" deep. 72 long by 24 wide x 30 deep to be exact. Getting very confused looking at all the MH options. Figure I need a 72" fixture with 3 250W MH's Any help as to the best bang for the buck would be great.

Ha yeah that copy and paste can get me in trouble it is the single recirc 200 that I am thinking on getting. I thought about the gravity drain but wouldn't that be quite a bit more than 400 gph...I have two 1 1/2" drains?

Hey thanks I think I will go with the Octopus Skimmer Dual Recirc 250. I found it on sale for 350. What small pump would you recommend with it that runs cool and quiet?

Anybody have any opinions about this skimmer or any other skimmers? I am working on a set-up for a 240 DT with a 65 sump

I took advice from Harris and couldn't be happier with my t5's from aquactinics.

If the salt reading is 1.020 what problems can this cause? Also how fast can it be raised safely?
