    29g biocube, attempt number two.

Update: two O.clowns, a group of mushrooms, and a colony of zoas. They went in saturday afternoon and everyone seems healthy/happy. Pics to follow tonight.

Lighting Recommendations for a 28g Cube

I use the panorama pro on my 29 biocube. I added two extra strips to make five total. From my research I should be able to keep sps no prob. This is a new tank and haven't gotten to that point yet but I can tell you that this saturday I put in a large colony of zoas and a couple shrooms. They...

    29g biocube, attempt number two.

I think I might try and angle down the return. It is tilted all the way up right now and really churns up the water which is important to me with a glass top and gas exchange. I notice bubbles forming that I dont see coming out of the return but seem to form at surface. Kind of a bad explanation...

    29g biocube, attempt number two.

O and I did a four gallon water change last night. Just have some mirco bubbles I cant figure out where they are from.

    29g biocube, attempt number two.

Well earlier this morning I ordered the remora. Wish I would have waited seekng another person gave a +1 for the aqualife. Just have to wait and see, hopefully it works out. Just an update, the cuc went in last sat and have been doing fine. Amonia and trites are stable. Had some serious algea...

    29g biocube, attempt number two.

I was referring to the aquatic life skimmer. I cant remember fully now what was said but something to do with extending an airline to prevent clogs and something else to quiet it down.

Do you know of the "mod" I am reading about?

    29g biocube, attempt number two.

Spanko, how loud is your skimmer? The reviews I have read all say it is loud.

    29g biocube, attempt number two.

Thanks I'll check it out. I am currently testing my tank and got to thinking....my rock already has a good amount of algae growing, doesn't algea like that feed off of ammonia?

    29g biocube, attempt number two.

That is what I am worried about. Would adding a little extra source of amonia now, and waiting for it to clear, ensure I won't have another one down the line?

    29g biocube, attempt number two.

So on tuesday of last week I set up my tank and put in 30lbs of lr and about 15-20lbs of sand. The following day I added a little food to the tank to help the uncured lr kick off a cycle. I didn't check the tank for ammonia till thursday or friday and nothing came up. Then yesterday I did a test...

Turbo snail destroying my seaweed ...

Thanks for the reply. So it is something that has to be brought in from an outside source I assume.

New live rock arrived. Mixed up some water and everything is settling. Ghost feeding starts today when I get home.

Thanks I will try and do some searches on that skimmer.

    29g biocube, attempt number two.

I really was looking for a skimmer to fit inside the stock location but everything I have found seems like a waste of money. I like the remora due to the clean box type design. Hoping it doesn't look to awful sitting on the back and isn't to loud. If I can't find another solution I will order...

    29g biocube, attempt number two.

So after looking around this is what I am looking at. The AquaC Nano Remora Hang-On Protein Skimmer. Read a review and apparently it fits onto the back on tye biocube hqi. Any thoughts?

    29g biocube, attempt number two.

Yeah the cube comes with a small air stone style skimmer. I don't think it worked very well and I think that it was the source of my micro bubble problem that started just before my crash.

    29g biocube, attempt number two.

So I checked out the deltec and that is alot of cash. Its not out of the question but I doubt it unless I have water quality problems. I was hopeing someone retrofitted a new skimmer in the stock location of the hqi. I really enjoy the sleek/clean look of all my components being inside.

    29g biocube, attempt number two.

So this will be my second attempt at building a reef tank. Last year I bought a 29g biocube hqi and fit a ecoxotics panorama pro led light on top. Everything went fairly easy and my reef was very healthy. I had a clean up crew, two percs, yellow dwarf angel, seahair, emerald crab, a variety of...
