The lights are a couple compact florescents. They came with the set-up. I wanted to upgrade to metal halide but I'm pretty happy with what I have. I would like to experiment with coral after I'm more confident with this new set-up.
Some new pics, I got this really cool green and red rock.
Here is a closeup of the fire that was requested, the damsel couldn't swim near it too long cause he got hot.
Are you a moderator? No.
If people like you asked relevant questions about reef tanks, Id be polite. Instead, people like you keep a ongoing discussion about civil rights.
I'm over this...no more updates.
Anyway, the whole point of this was to have a stereotypical tank diary. So now that the random arguing is out of the way I can finish it with a detailed "paint" schematic to show the setup.
OK, first off, I bought the damsels as tester fish. So it wouldn't be devastating if I were to lose one.
As for it being cruel that one fish eats another, Welcome to nature. Be mad at every carnivore for surviving.
We are pretty set on a frog-fish, So that could solve the problem of catching the damsels. I used to catch sargassum fish in seaweed as a kid so I'm getting one for sentimental value.
Here are some updates, I'm going to get some more rock in a few days.
It's hard to take pictures that show the true lighting without the flash messing it up.
This is my 5th tank. Set it up and put fish in it in 3 days. Looks ok so far.
My g/f is always making fun of the random pictures people put on here so she took like 50 gay ones to make fun of me. Here we go...
Stereotypical adding water picture
My bio "balls"

I had a ugly brown mantis that was about 3" long. He made a hole in a peice of live rock and poked his head out all day. I kept him well fed, and he didnt eat my fish, I had clown, angels, and damsels.
