I also have seen this. The string is coming from a small orange curly Q type of thing that is on the live rock. It is very small. I usually see the string when I am stirring up the crushed coral... Any ideas?

nevermind... I founds some posts on this subject. I will need to get some more live rock before I even think about it again.

My experience has not been so well with a QT. Most of the fish that I have purchased have not made it through the QT period. Granted they have all died from some kind of disease, but I really think that the stress of being in the small QT tank makes it worse or increases their problems...
