    Venturi not working

    The back presure from the skimmer is preventing the venturi drawing air. The air goes in the intake. You need to get a venturi adaptor for inlet OR drill a hole in housing for airline. I can take pic if you need it.

    your right I meant was any good pump and mesh wheel mod is going to make foam. Pulling air is the pump. The rest is the skimmer and it makes a diff. If it makes tons of foam but floods or has bubbles in tank I wouldnt use it. "the skimmer that comes pre-meshed is the MSX series of skimmers"...

    What do you mean 3" is the start? Do you mean you have to start with 3" then add later to get 5 or 6" DSB. I never heard that do you have any links. Or you mean you started with 3" due to funds. I understand that if what you mean, same here.

    heh lol any skimmer with mesh will skim. What matters is features, does it overflow do bubbles escape. best pump in order venturi needle (good) mesh (best) there is a skim unit comes with mesh anyone know which.

    They sell overflows that hand on the tank. I may get a drilled 125 gallon but if its much more I will just get the hang on overflow.

    Not sure if this is true. One a protein skimmer makes nice air, the venturi driven skimmer is just air bubles like a buble strip/buble curtain. Another thing, the bubles pop on surface makes ton of agitation -THIS is what the salt creep from. Only down side I hear about bubles is salt creep...

    We got a hippo tang in 55. We know it will get to big and are getting 125 soon. They tang baby ok, but will grow. They want to really swim, fast.
