Anyone? Im away from home for a few days, and my mom said its gotten worse. Should i be worried at all? or is this normal?

Week 2 Ph-8.3 Ammonia-0 Nitrite-0 Nitrate-0 When should i expect my cycle to start. The tanks been up for two weeks and still no nitrites or nitrates. I even have a bit of an algea problem going on. Is there anything i should do about it?

Day 6 Nitrate- 0 Nitrite- 0 Ph- 8.4 Ammonia- 0 Ive got a bunch of what looks to be some kind of red algea, its on most of the lr and spread to the sand today. Is this normal? or should i be worried?

Heres a pic, sorry about the quality, I need to clean the glass. And before i get flamed, that hermit was hiding in my bucket of LR that i kept from my old tank, and I figured he would have a better chance at surviving in the tank than any where else i could put him.

Got the water, sand, and LR added and i am really digging the way the LR looks. I also went ahead and took out the aquapod filter sponge and built a rack out of egg crate. On the top row i've got some cheato, second row chemi-pure elite, and bottom row purigen. Does this sound alright? Also, i...

Water and sand is in, i'll aquascape it once it clears up. Should i run the power heads while the sand settles? or will that just make it take longer?

Yeah, the fish seem to be doing fine, they are eating normally so they dont appear to be stressed. The water almost looks dusty? if that makes any since. Like the filter is just stirring up whatever is in the tank. What kind of tests do you think i need to run? Thanks
