    OK,, what do you have as far as livestock? are you using RO/DI for your top-offs? how did you cycle the tank? with what? have you leaned out your filter floss? Do you have a protein skimmer yet? Nitrate at 30ppm is not horrible yet but we would like to get them down,, no need to panic yet though..

    Me personally, If you have sufficent LIVE ROCK and a deep sand bed and a have a protein skimmer, I just would run a good hang on back filter with filter floss and some carbon, These are easy to clean and maintain, where the canister filter have been directly indicted on raising nitrates and need...
