    Cheap base rock

I have a 75 gal reef. I used river rock for base and used some slate. I then puchased live rock for the second half. It took about a year but now u can't tell the difference from the two different rocks. It much cheaper, and anytime u can find help with the cost in SW it's a bonus.

The first thing I thought of was your water. You didn't say if you were using tap water or RO. I know you testedthe water for the usual stuff, I thinking there is soething not tested, could be a high cholrine count or a very high metal count. I know in my town they use avery high chorline count...

    skimmer

I have been using the 150 model for over two years. it works great. Make sure the intake air line is clear and the pwerhead is creating suction. other then that it should work great. I have found that if the inlet side of the powerhead gets clogged, it loses the prime. :happyfish

What is wrong with my skimmer

the only thing I can think of, and I'm far from an engineer is that the water needs the gravity and speed to enter the chamber fast enough to create the cyclone action inside. I believe that is why that type works well as a hang on tank type. Good luck.

What is wrong with my skimmer

Sorry, I didn't see that, I found every once in awhile I have the pull the inlet side of the pwerhead line off. The cone shaped piece gets small pieces of seaweed caught in it and the air mix can't get through. I also heard that skimmers don't work well in freshwater due to different type of...

What is wrong with my skimmer

I;m not sure if that is the 100 or 150 model. I use the 150. But what I can tell u are missing some parts. There should an air line that leads from the pwerhead with an adjustment knob attached. Also there should be a hard plastic j shaped piece that goes from the powerhead which would be...
