    Cycling redone tank

I would love some more opinions. How long should I give it before being confident there won't be a ammonia spike? Still at zero 5 days in. Was hoping to look to start adding next weekend. Thanks.

    Cycling redone tank

The lone tomato clown is in the new tank. He doesn't look particularly thrilled with life at the moment and hasn't eaten in the new tank yet, but seems OK overall. He was shy in the old tank and there is a lot more open space now, so that kinda makes sense.

    Cycling redone tank

I just took down my 46 gallon bow front and moved everything to a 75 gallon. I kept the bulk of the water, the filters/skimmers, and live rock along with the cleanup crew and the lone remaining fish. I filled the rest with RO water and used all new live sand. So my question is... Do I need to...

    Broken support beam

Thank you so much for all your help. I've lowered the water level and am working on some way to reconnect the beam. I'm going to use the next week to decide the future of the tank. I'm thinking after 5 years it might be time to move on. I'll search for a good home for my pets when I return...

    Broken support beam

I hope I wasn't being confusing. This is actually a glass tank. the support piece that broke is a plastic piece that went across the center of the tank. Here is the tank. you can see the piece that is broken across the middle.

    Broken support beam

The tank needs to be topped off. So i'll just leave it for now. Or should I lower it significantly? More importantly, should I do anything drastic before I go away?

    Broken support beam

The support beam across the top of my 46 gallon bow front snapped tonight. I recall reading that even though it's a thin piece of plastic that they are important for supporting a tanks weight. Is this something I need to worry about? I'm mainly concerned as I am going away for a week...

    Soft Coral Issue

I am having an issue with star polyps and mushrooms in my 46 gal tank. I also have some pumping xenia, but they are dong great. The Xenia were added about 6 months ago, but there was only a single branch on a rock I bought. They are spreading great, but the more they spread the worse...

    Which is more important?

A couple of weeks ago I lost my cleaner shrimp. I never even found the carcass. Today I bought a new one and finally discovered what happened to to the first one. I found the new shrimp under a rock in the clutches of my spiny starfish. As much as I like my starfish, I liked having the...

    Quick quarantine setup

I have a 46 gallon tank that has been running for around 2 years, with mainly just fish and live rock, and a few soft corals. I'm thinking it's about time to set up a quarantine tank. Is there a quick way to go about this, using the water/sand/rock from my current tank? And what is the...

My Anemone picked a dark spot

I could actually just flip the rock it's on around so it's on the top facing the light without having to move the anemone. Does that make it worth doing?

My Anemone picked a dark spot

I added a BTA to my tank this past weekend. It generally seems to be doing well. Unfortunately it picked a spot facing the back of my tank where it isn't very visible. But more of a concern is the spot he's in doesn't get a ton of light passing though the rocks above. Is it worth it to turn...

    ID Please

I have a few small brown soft coral/anemone looking growths on my rock. I'm not sure what it is, and there are now 3, as there was only 1 a few days ago. I'm sorry for the lousy pic, but any info is appreciated. I mainly just want to know if it's anything i should be worried about.

    Babies!!!!!!!!!!

My Firefish have had babies twice in the last 3 weeks. But they keep ending up as a snack. What kind of setup would be needed to keep them alive?

    Diamond Watchman Goby

I've had one for a few month's now. They are very entertaining to watch. He has no problem grabbing himself enough food at feeding time. It did take him a week or two to get comfortable and be willing to come out of hiding at feeding time. At first eh explored the whole tank and kept all the...

I think I have baby firefish. What do I do?

I managed to get about 12 of them out of the tank. I didn't have an alternate tank set up so I brought them to my LFS. They cleared out a tank for them. I wish i had thought of netting them out, I could have grabbed a bunch more. I'm curious to see how many survive.

I think I have baby firefish. What do I do?

This morning when the lights in my tank were turned on, my pair of firefish emerged from their usual sleeping spot. With them came a ton of miniscule objects that were moving on their own. I'm assuming they had babies. (I could be wrong). I turned the lights back off. But I don't know what...
