    Copepod information

Could I put the rubble pile in the mesh bag and put it behind my rocks, there are several places I think I have room. I have some LR that I have kept in a rubber-maid with a powerhead and some light. Most of the pieces are fairly big. Could I just break them up and use that? How can I...

    Copepod information

Thanks Shrimpi, good read. I also found an article about using rubble inside the tank to provide a refuge for breeding pods--they suggested a strawberry basket, but I was wondering about a mesh bag--like 5 lbs of potatoes come in. I guess that concept is that the pods can breed inside the...

    Copepod information

I see that swf.com sells 200 live copepods. I have a 90gal reef tank with a Scotter Blenny, a Mandarin, a Purple Queen Anthia and a Clown. The tank was set up in April using lr and water from an established tank. My question is with 200, how quickly will the fish eat them? Will some have...

    Losing my Mind?!?!?!?!

Cool guy, I have the same problem in my 90g, but my tank only has 1 clown, 1 Scooter Blenny and 1 Purple Queen Anthia (mislead by the lfs) a Sea Hare to get rid of hair algae that came with the lr, 10 hermits and 10 snails. All other parameters are great, except nitrates. I think my problem...

    Skimmer help

I just remebered the name of the 20" I tried. It was a Current USA Fission Power Skimmer (rated for 220g) I found that they make a smaller version 16" that is rated for 100g. Does anyone have any experience with this model/company? Thanks Claire

    Skimmer help

Please help me. I need a protein skimmer for my 90g reef tank. I tried one (can't recall the brand) but at 20" tall. I could not remove the cup from the top of the unit (in sump). My lfs is trying to sell me a Red Sea Prizm Skimmer that is rated for up to 100 gallons--he wants $239.00 for it...

    Crabs and Lobsters

Thanks for the reply teen, I will try that and see what happens. Do you just drop the larger chunks in the vicinity of the crab/lobster and hope it sinks to them? There shouldn't be any problem freezing the dinner after it is diced and then cutting off chunks and letting it thaw (like the...

    Crabs and Lobsters

I have a Salley Light Foot and a Purple Lobster. They have started acting very aggressive when I feed the 2 damsels that are in the tank. I feed frozen Brine Shrimp. Is there something I should be feeding them? They seem awfully hungry. What are your thoughts on feeding fish only Brine...

    Coral adding

Thanks for for advice. I have a 24 gallon aquapod also that has been running for a while (with several corals in it--all doing well. I plan on buying mostly frags, but I do like some of the larger leathers. I actually thought about moving the corals from the smaller tank into the larger tank...

    Coral adding

I know there are limits to the number of fish you should add to a tank at one time, but what about coral? The number of fish add to the bioload, but do corals? I have 90g that I set up on April 13th and justed added a percula and a sea hare (bought established live rock that had some hair...

Still trying to get it right

Thanks for the responses. The RO water comes from a unit I bought when someone was breaking down a tank. Could the nitrates be coming from the filters needing to be replaced? My LFS is telling me that he is worried that I might have to get a chiller with the lights I'm getting. That's why I...
