At low levels an established bio filter should be able to handle it. I would also treat your water with a good quality water conditioner, like Prime.

If you are concerned about weight you can also add small plastic beads you can buy at a crafts store to the cement to make the rock lighter

Actually I was using Providone iodine 10%solution that you can get at any drug store. I was adding it to 2 cups of water until the water was the color of weak tea. I dipped for 5 min then a rinse with tank water. The link below is what I am now doing which most of the people in my reef club also...

IMO this combo may work for you in the future candy, blue Zoe and that’s a blue acro frag I just picked up But stay away from polys they will over run your tank. Remember to CORAL DIP

The hobbyist must remember the two ways of filtration are mechanical and biological. One way mechanically is to do a water change and this is very beneficial in many ways but in your case you are removing ingredients your tank needs to allow for expansion of nitrifying and denitrifying bacteria...
