I hate this part

I just added a sea grass wrasse, and as usual with wrasses, it quickly buried itself in the sand. It has been two days, and we haven't seen it again...yet. I hate this waiting. I had a melanarus that hid for 5 days, then emerged to die, and a christmas wrasse who stayed buried for a week, then lived for almost 4 years in the tank. I just hate this part.

I had a yellow wrasse...it was fine in the QT and as soon as I introduced it to the DT...it borrowed under the sand, never to be seen again. Folks kept saying wait and see, so I know what you mean about waiting, it's nerve wracking. I tried a fairy wrasse, I covered the tank, and as soon as I went to feed the fish, it jumped out at a corner that had been opened and landed behind the tank where I couldn't reach it in time to save it...I personally am done with wrasses. It's like they just don't want to live.
I hope your little guy emerges and lives 5 years, outliving the fish before it....

After 6 days he emerged tonight, joined eagerly in the nightly feeding frenzy, and is hanging out peacefully with the rest of the gang. He's the same size as our fairy wrasse, so I was a little worried, but everybody is calm.

My feelings, exactly. Pictures might have to wait a bit - the fish seems to be on a reverse cycle, and has buried for the day (or week, or whatever). As soon as I can I'll get a pic and post it. Same for the new purple tilefish we added two weeks ago.

...LOL...I could never get pictures either, all my fish were camera shy. However as long as he came out and ate, he is alive and well.

Yeah, that'll happen, especially if the fish was collected halfway around the world. They have "jet lag" as much as we do!
I have a Mystery wrasse who has never done the burying trick, and a McCosker's in QT who doesn't bury himself, but he does hide at night and make a slime cocoon. I'm trying to get a Divided wrasse in, who WILL be a sand-burrower, but my sand bed should be deep enough to handle him. Hope you can get pics of yours soon!

Tried out a new macro lens today and got some nice pictures of the gang, including the sea grass wrasse, who is now on close to a good day/night cycle. As soon as I get power to turn on my computer I will do an upload (may be several days).
