I would research drilling syphon brakes in your return lines this gives you the ability to move the out flow of water deeper into your tank if you desire

Just to answer you original thread question. Yes there are situations where you can have too much filtration for your tank inhabitants

You are never going to get a disease free guarantee from any fish source. Its buyer beware so IMO QT

return must always be LESS then overflow
