    New 75g Reef Tank

I decided to buy the kalk stirrer and Biopellets sooner rather than later. The last addition I need is decent lighting and I'll be set for some fish and live rock.

    New 75g Reef Tank

Yep. Rock and sand is in the tank. Aquascape somewhat. I might want to change it a little. I did not use zip ties like I thought. It went together fairly easily and I liked the shelving rocks that I bought. The tank is cloudy. I added the bioclarifier to it anyways. It should be pretty nice...

    New 75g Reef Tank

Cool. I got a conduit bender. Lol. I'll think about it. Bang guy, there was a different thread talking about aquascaping and you said something like "you must put it on three points. Not one, not two, not four or five but exactly three points." Did you jus make a Monty Python reference...

What's that fine whitish film on aquarium glass?

You shouldn't dose anything unless you have an accurate test kit. if your parameters are off and your scheduled water change is not around the corner, it would be best to maintain parameters as close to natural seawater as possible.

    New 75g Reef Tank

I liked the Reefbreeders. I wonder if they have a photon 48 with tank holders or something. I don't really want a canopy. I'm fixing to be on my way to buy some live rock. I'm getting excited!

Thanks JC74. I'm still considerin those cheap Chinese LED lights. It just depends I guess on what I find it I keep researching. I Have looked at a lot of tanks in person that have LEDs and my favorite so far have been ATI radeons. But they are like $800 a piece. That would be a dream lighting...

    First time raising fry

The first batch is usually a bust. Good job trying though!! You'll be much better prepared the next go around. Have you started a phytoplankton culture?

What's that fine whitish film on aquarium glass?

Your Biopellets are already a source of carbon. The output of the pipe from the reactor should go in close proximity to the skimmer. What your seeing is a flocculant. It's a bunch of bacteria that's formed a biofilm because of the excess carbon dosing. Quit one source or the other and let your...

Smaller place, bigger tank...My 200DD build

Awesome dude!!! That's great that the algae is going away. I'm glad that stuff is working afterall. Knowing me, I would have probably built a cheap algae scrubber to take care of the problem. Im glad the chemical route worked.

    Three skimmers, which one wins?

I'm guessing you have a sump. DC pump skimmers are all the rage these days. Look into a RLSS skimmer or Skimz. You can control how fast the pump is, which may be a good benefit to have.

    New 75g Reef Tank

The incoming TDS of my tap water has decreased down to averaging 225. Outgoing TDS is still 0. Good signs. I'm going to cut the egg crate to fit the top of the auto top off unit to keep toys out of it. Hopefully that won't happen. I'm still buying live rock this weekend, regardless of moving...

    New 75g Reef Tank

I've moved plenty of tanks and livestock. Moving it should not be a big issue. The problem is deciding if I should invest in corals in three months or not. Kinda weird talking about buying my first house. Never imagined that would happen.

    New 75g Reef Tank

If all goes well, I might be moving in three to six months. I'm hoping that we can buy a house soon before the second arrival. If you only had three to six months for a tank before you move it, what would you do? Go along with it and then move it when the time comes or just put some pretty...

    External overflow for emergency backup?

If your pump is underpowered, it will cause bubbles to be trapped inside the tube, causing it to lose siphon. With enough flow, it pushes the bubbles through and they don't get trapped. It's physics.
