I wouldn't try to school a Bengaii Cardinal... unless you had a big enough tank and the right sort of male/female mix. Bang, I forgot it was a 10G... neither a Cardinal nor Chromis would make a good fit there.

Id personably go with the cardinal over a chromis.

I generally go 1 1/2 - 2 hours depending on the fish. I'm not persistent that you have to do it that way, but if I started losing a new fish 5 times in a row and each time was within a day, I would sure as heck want to at least look at my acclimation process. If a LFS has a MUCH lower salinity...

I didn't take offense at all! I was just explaining my rational. Beth you don't think that acclimation could be the problem, if you are doing just cup and not drip and if it was only for 30 or so instead of perhaps the 2-3 that they need.

sounds like cyanobacteria. A few questions: Did you have live rock or live sand and how much? What were your numbers for nitrate and nitrite? How long do you keep your lights on? Did you test your water before you put it in? If you're wanting to use a canister filter you'd need a fluval 406...

I was saying this because it shows if you need a longer acclimation process. If their salinity and PH are WAY different than your tank it could cause problems. If I had 5 fish die, each on their first day or two I would check everything!

Also, Where did you read that a clue tang can survive in a 36g?

Have you tested the water from the LFS before you start the acclimation process?

^ I still think it's the acclimation process too. I can't think of anything else that would kill them all the day after.
