Do I have to drip Kalk

Hi there, We dont have that pickling lime in England so cant help there... With aiptasia, make it so it is a thick paste, but viscous enough for it to flow through a syringe. That will burn the blighter to pieces. Ive done this on many occasions. Look up my thread from ages ago on how to control...

    Yellow Tang loosing its color

Oh dear Veronica, You HAVE to feed it some dried seeweed or something green. This is the core part of its diet, and every Tang. The bloodworm etc is almost incidental. Its key din-dins should be sea veggies, as it is a grazer. I imagine time is of the essence here, its clearly not getting a...

    water circulation? PLEASE!

Hi there, No it is very unlikely you will create too much water disturbation for the fish. Remember in the wild their breed are used to massive currents, lapping waves etc... Water circulation is the key to a healthy marine aquarium. Is it possible to get two powerheads on the sides of the...

tank swap cloudy water predicament... help!

yup fish should be fine, remember the coral reefs do get storms and it is cloudy then. They will just duck for cover. Not sure about the corals, they wont enjoy a cloudy tank and probably not a rubbermaid either. I think a rubbermaid is lesser of two evils. Tim.

    turbo snails

only 5 for a 100g?!? I presume you have more...? Two tests: a little cruel, but turn them on their side or upside down and you should be able to see them try to turn back on their front. Or take them out and smell them! Nothing smells worse than a rotting snail... Have you cycled your tank yet...

    Substrate

Hi there, Im not an expert on the subject, but to add my .02c, i would suggest a mixture of two different size grains is good. A really fine aragonite is good with a slightly bigger grain. The sand dwellers will love just churning it up for you :) Tim.

    Cloudy Water

ok if your cycling sometimes normal to have some cloudiness. Do you have a cannister filter? If so bung some activated carbon in there, that polishes the water. If you disturbed it big time, its only natural for it to be cloudy, dont worry, it will settle. Tim.

    Live Rock Question

Hi there, Yes inverts can live without live rock. Live rock is a fantastic addition that you will never regret adding to your rock. If you cant afford it, get 40% live rock and 60% 'dead' rock and within a year the dead rock will become live so to speak. Live sand is also very good. Tim.

Hi there, Best thing is to cycle by putting a prawn or shrimp from the supermarket in the tank for a few days until the Ammonia goes up, that will kick it going, and no harm to any animals alive :) Your tank is too small for any tangs im afraid, they require miles and miles and swimming room. I...

Do I have to drip Kalk

dripping kalk also means that the ca levels are maintained steadily and is kinder on the inhabitants for it to be added gently and constantly rather than throwing in a load of Ca (in form of liquid ca or kalk) at once. Tim.
